Handley will be excited just in general to come down to Salem and play in that atmosphere again. I know last November when they came down to Salem I was living in Winchester at the time and there was a lot of excitement in the air from the community and players when they knew they were coming down to a town with a storied program for the first time to play football. Salem must punch them in the mouth early. Don’t let them get ahead early and let them hang around. When you do that it makes teams believe and then you feel the pressure. It’s gotta be a fundamentally sound all around performance or Salem very well could be out in the first round.

You'll never see a less confident group of fans than you will with Salem. The "aw, shucks" routine wears thin after awhile.
It is both a blessing and a curse that Salem has been so successful. Fans, like myself have seen elite teams (10 State Championship teams---and many other great Salem teams). They've also seen Lake Taylor, Martinsburg, Phoebus, and Dinwiddie over the years. So for good or bad every Salem team is compared to those teams. We know what elite looks like. Tough grading scale.

I looked at some film on nfhs. Handles OL is by far the better squad. Salem will have to rely on D1 guys and hype.

I hate that for him, not the way anyone wants any player to finish a season. He obviously has great talent and plenty of time for a well accomplished future in the game. Wish him a quick and complete recovery. Even in his absence, Salem will have their hands full. Looking forward to a good game tonight.

Safe travels to Handley down 81 tonight to Salem Stadium. Brings back great memories for me when I used to live maybe a half a mile if that, from Handley. Good luck to the Spartans and Judges this evening. Go out there and have a great game and put on a show for both your respected communities this evening. Good luck to the athletes, coaches, and both fan bases!

Would love to see a competitive game but I honestly think the teams down south are just built different. I think with the exception of a 2013 Sherando team that beat Salem 7-0, these Northwestern schools haven’t faired well against the south. Good luck to all and hopeful for no injuries.

Another exception: tusky had a great 2019 team that beat a great 2019 Salem team at Salem stadium.
