Roanoke County schools are slowly dropping Salem. I would bet Cave Spring and Hidden Valley would drop too if they were not in River RidgeWho does Salem play in Blue Ridge? I guess they are not playing Northside?
Salem will scrimmage them this yr. Can't put much into a scrimmage thoughThey will take a step back this year but still most likely got unbeaten and win state title. I don't know who they play out of conference but they will beat everyone in their district by 35+.
HSHS opens with Hopewell, Dinwiddie and nationally ranked Hough HS out of NC. We're supposed to play Maury in Norfolk. Not to mention Varina.Let’s hear them!
So far for me:
1. Dinwiddie hands down with Salem, Highland Springs, and Granby.
2. Varina has Maury and has another big time opponent (I don’t think they’ve made it public yet).
3. GW Danville. SHEEESH! Reidsville, Botty, Glass, and Amherst. May be the toughest schedule Danville has had in 20 years.
What has happened to Roanoke lately?Roanoke County schools are slowly dropping Salem. I would bet Cave Spring and Hidden Valley would drop too if they were not in River Ridge
I started A team as a seventh grader. The real answer to the question is the Andrew Lewis B team. They are all 7th graders and play everyone elses 8th grade team. Anytime, anyplace!
That is STOUT! If they can somehow sneak into the playoffs, then people can't say that they weren't battle tested.Glass plays Salem, GW, Heritage, LCA, Jefferson Forest and Amherst. Those teams should be solid this year.
That Jefferson District really helps them doesn't it? 🤣Louisa!🤣🤣
I certainly hope that schools choosing to not field teams or schools having the foresight to realize that not fielding a team is plausible have already reached out to schools on their schedules and told them to go ahead and find someone else to take their place. The program that the VHSL, and all of the schools use to officially post schedules is called rSchool.
Often, the AD’s send their schedules to their District official and it sometimes gets posted early on the District website, (which is almost always the rSchool based format).
Schedules are not secret squirrel stuff, so often an email to an AD will get you a schedule.
Of course, if a school hasn’t locked down their schedules, it’s hard to pry what the schedule MIGHT be out of an AD or other school official. Understandably.
The deadline for AD’s to submit their schedules to the League office is May 1. But, a lot has to happen before the schedules can be posted. First, every year there are always schools that have not submitted their schedules and the League has to deal with that. Secondly, the League has an intense system of cross checking and correlating the schedules of over 315 Virginia schools, and that doesn’t include a good many private schools and a large number of out of state schools.
The simplest mistakes on the schedules, which are innocent, but numerous, often take the most effort to resolve. For instance, two opponents may have shown that they are both at home. Or one team list Thursday for the game, or the other shows Friday. Or one schedule shows game time to be 6:30, but the opponent shows 7:00.
And then you can throw in the occasional team or two that suddenly decides that they are not going to field a team and that leaves their opponents scrambling to find an opponent at the last minute.
It’s a maddening job. And that’s when things go well. Which is seldom.
So if we see the official schedule before the 4th of July, I’ll be pleased.
Some of it has to do with the number of kids playing. Too many distractions unless you're locked in.What has happened to Roanoke lately?
since I have been paying attention 00 to now,
Seems like from 2000 to 2015 basically all greater Roanoke valley teams you can think of had 3-4 seasons of deep playoff potential.
Salem is not immune to that either. Last year there were only around 60-65 kids total from JV/Vars that made it through to the season. (A couple even quit well into the season from Vars) I hope that was an anomaly and not the trend for Salem football, but I've seen it as a trend in a lot of the other area schools. ALMS numbers were still pretty good last year so hopefully it was just an anomaly. Some of it has to do with the number of kids playing. Too many distractions unless you're locked in.
Ok thanks Mike was just curious because all I had seen on our schedule so far was the scrimmage/ benefit game and first regular season game with Appomattox.
Thanks my friend much appreciated. From what I've seen, Brookville opens with Appomattox, then travels to Alleghany, then hosts Halifax. Opens district play with Rustburg

Rumor is Phoebus got a big time 757 opponent on schedule this year…I’ll wait for announcement

Hough isn’t even the best team in CLT. Dub C is insane. If it wasn’t for my wife’s birthday, I’d be at that Grimsley game at BOA. That’s gonna be part 1 of 2 (they’ll play again in December) in 8A.Hough not gonna be ranked long. They got Rock Hill South Pointe at BOA. That's gonna be a butt whoopin'.
That looks to be a solid schedule, though, have to give credit where credit is due. Should be a good game.
Captain got our guys on IBM looking good? Talked to Lutz for a little bit last month in Winston when we lost to North. He’s going to do huge things at West Meck. How about Ant Parks to Mallard Creek?! SHEEESH 🔥🔥 our guys doing big things.Hough not gonna be ranked long. They got Rock Hill South Pointe at BOA. That's gonna be a butt whoopin'.

Hough has a decent OL coach. He's kinda scary looking but he's alright! lololHough isn’t even the best team in CLT. Dub C is insane. If it wasn’t for my wife’s birthday, I’d be at that Grimsley game at BOA. That’s gonna be part 1 of 2 (they’ll play again in December) in 8A.

Any idea who Varina may get October 3rd? Wouldn’t be a shock if it was St. James.Varina start the season off with William Fleming and Maury
They reached out to any and everybody including St James at this point just waiting for someone to accept the game. For both JV and VarsityAny idea who Varina may get October 3rd? Wouldn’t be a shock if it was St. James.
Huguenot really should've went all in on scheduling Phoebus this year. Regardless of how some may feel, that's an automatic huge gate, a great test and publicity for both programs, and anytime the 804 plays the 757, it's just good for VA High School Football. Huguenot has a 4 star QB, 4 star WR, 4 star LB (signed with SMU)...It's no reason that their sole out of district game is a "ehhhhh" St. Christopher's team. That's no disrespect to Huguenot or St. Christopher's, Huguenot just isn't going to get over the hump playing this schedule they have this year. And like that looks like the game is scratched…
Does Huguenot earn power rating points from playing St. Christopher? If not then it just makes the scheduling seem even stranger considering the teams they’ll compete against for a top seed would be playing in/against tougher districts and opponentsHuguenot really should've went all in on scheduling Phoebus this year. Even more shocking that they didn't try to play y'all week 1. I know these agreements are made in advance and I also know that the Springers would've preferred to play another very good C4 team alongside Phoebus and Varina. I was told at the Varina game last season that was supposed to be game 1 but I guess that might’ve just been a rumorEven more shocking that they didn't try to play y'all week 1. Who did they pick up out of district? I see that they are playing Herm this which should be a dang good ball game. Also, who is the new QB Tee Jay picked up?
I’m not sure who Qb is but saw just small clips of him from the showcase at the springs and size wise he looks like a legit athleteWho did they pick up out of district? I see that they are playing Herm this which should be a dang good ball game. Also, who is the new QB Tee Jay picked up?
