This story has many legs and just when you think its over, here comes another turn.I would hate this if I had any skin in it but as an outside observer I'm fascinated by how this process has played out.
And they should....It’s become an internal Fairfax issue more than anything else. Those coaches & players within FCPS that tried to engage within the boundaries of the rules aren’t OK with their division leadership playing favorites like this. Someone is going to end up losing their job over this situation.
I think they’ve made more enemies with Twitter fingers than anything and the constantly poking the bear is biting them in the tail. Sure a lot of stuff has been deleted for CYA purposes (if they’re that smart it would be).. After that decision was overturned, the “coaches” should’ve deactivated social media. I see a bunch of selfish and egotistical dudes who are about look at me rather than it being about the kids. It’s become an internal Fairfax issue more than anything else. That was exactly what I was thinking this morning. You boycott, you make it easier on them. But if the 6C teams boycott won’t they just push Hayfield to state semis. This situation is out of hand.
Great post sir. I had this conversation with a co-worker this morning at my 9-5. What is being lost in this day and age of getting kids to the next level is making sure these young men get the life lessons from football that we always heard were the cornerstone of not just football but all sports. In this day and age of everyone wanting to get theirs, that is being lost and it is sad.I think they’ve made more enemies with Twitter fingers than anything and the constantly poking the bear is biting them in the tail. My statement remains. We need real men leading our kids man. We need fathers at home, we need real men leading our young men for this jacked up world we live in. I truly feel bad for the kids who saw Hayfield as a meal ticket out and are now caught up in this mess.
The grandstanding, poking the eyes of your detractors, maintaining that constant, offensive, arrogant demeanor on social media by the adults is a grotesque display. Someone has to be the leader, show the way, teach civility and a socially acceptable skillset. There were questions, it appeared they were answered. Publicly acknowledge the team completed their due diligence, met the requests, everyone was legit, then BE BETTER. The chirping on social media, doesn't help anyone associated in this predicament.I think they’ve made more enemies with Twitter fingers than anything and the constantly poking the bear is biting them in the tail. All it teaches is that people can do bad and will not face consequences
This is an extremely long read, but it’s the complete, honest, and accurate accounting of the entire story. And yet another article I discovered through another site. This one is a very long read but really tells the story in its entirety. Not much new, but there are some bits of information this reporter got from people involved who most have not heard from.
How An Imported State Champion Blew Up Virginia High School Football | Defector
Administrators at Hayfield Secondary School in Alexandria, Va., set out late last year to create a football powerhouse. The principal and athletic director, both new to the school, recruited the coach from Freedom High School, a school located in a neighboring county that had claimed the state...defector.com
That's what I was thinking too but I am not certain. I don't know what the end goal is for the coaches and principals that have threatened to boycott. Maybe they are hoping that the FCPS superintendent will follow a majority rules mindset and side with the boycotting schools as opposed to one school. I really don't know. But if the 6C teams boycott won’t they just push Hayfield to state semis. This situation is out of hand.
Huguenot did the exact same thing, except they brought their players from Life Christian Academy.
Wrong!!! Every coach in the Dominion District knows they did this.
OMG, she actually thinks this? If so, IMO she is only digging her own grave (removal from FCPS) even deeper. This entire issue is NOT about racism; it is about rules, fairness, morals, and ethics.
She dug her hole with the pathetic response back in August and the FCPS School Board, aside from the 3 who voted for an independent investigation, should be shown the door along with her. Instead, the idiots voted to give her a raise.OMG, she actually thinks this? If so, IMO she is only digging her own grave (removal from FCPS) even deeper. At some point you have to ask if there are any adults in the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors who will step in and hold FCPS and its leadership accountable. The power of the purse would seem to give them at least a little influence and say. The damage is done and regaining control appears questionable at best. It is astounding they gave the superintendent a raise and contract extension by unanimous vote when they might arguably have been able to fire for cause. And extended her contract. The entire school board is women. Does anyone really think they understand football or even care. They have an agenda to push. Thank God someone taped the conversation or they would have fired the South Coach over a false narrative. This simply is damage control and not a true investigation.
She can't, she won't, she's going to stand her ground now. Changing her position now admits wrongdoing. She won't blink. That's what I was thinking too but I am not certain. C6 Reg C all play Thur, next Tue, and then next Sat. to catch back up in the playoffs. I guess if Hayfield is still eligible they'll be playing tomorrow night. That's the story today anyway, might be completely different tomorrow? Is Hayfield playing tommorow? I know MaxPreps isn’t always accurate but it has them scheduled to play tommorow
I'd be shocked if it changes. What I believe will ultimately happen is Hayfield will win their region, maybe advance to state championship, win or don't win. After the season any wins will be vacated just like college, Overton and the admin will be gone and next years team misses playoffs as they pay the reprecussions.C6 Reg C all play Thur, next Tue, and then next Sat. to catch back up in the playoffs.
