This is an interesting matchup! Henrico coming off of a humbling defeat from the Springers, now facing undefeated Atlee (and next week undefeated Varina)! What is Henrico really made of? A puff of green smoke and a bad attitude or a contender? Is Jalon Jones healthy? Do they have more questions than answers?
How about Atlee?....and Varina? Can they compete with HSHS? Can HSHS stay focused on the Final prize?

Much is made of Hermitage and Meadowbrook's rough schedules to start but Henrico's 3-game stretch of Highland Springs, Atlee and Varina is simply brutal.

We are going to find out what all these teams are made of over the next few weeks...

Atlee has talent, we have seen them face Freeman but other than that their schedule has been rather weak.

Henrico we will know more about maybe this week, certainly after next week when they conclude this gauntlet with Varina.

Speaking of Varina... They are interesting to me... They have a plethora of talent, many players to go around who can make plays, more so than that of Atlee and Henrico in my estimation. That said, they have not faced a winning program yet! We don't know just how good they are because they haven't been tested. Their opponents are a combined 1-25! They have had by far the easiest schedule to date.

To answer that last question about the Springers... You know them as well as anyone on this board but I have no doubt Coach Johnson will keep them focused. He is the best in the region for a reason.

You know I know my Springers! I DO believe, with out doubt that they will stay focused. And..... I also know that they will press the accelerator once the playoffs start!

Varina should be an interesting game for HS. They have talent, but not across the board like the Springers. It's probably more of a rivalry game on the Varina side and I expect them to come into the game looking to pull off the upset. Highland Springs has so many weapons, experience, and confidence that it will take some bounces in the Blue Devils' favor to get it done. The extra factor for the Springers is Coach Johnson. That guy is intense when they are trouncing people.

As for Atlee - Henrico, I wouldn't know which team to bet on this week. After that game against Herm, I would have said Henrico all the way. I noticed Danny didn't mention Jahad Carter in his write up. That kid is a good player on offense, defense, and special teams and Atlee would have to account for him if he is on the field. Tyler Warren has good size and runs like a fullback at times so if Jalon Jones is healthy we could see a lot of QB rushing yards in this game. Without Jahad Carter I would give the edge to Atlee as the Abel brothers and Tucker Bratton slightly outweigh Eric McDaniels value in my opinion. If Coach Glasco can get Henrico refocused and get them to just play ball this game could go either way. If not Atlee easily gives them their 2nd loss.

I was wrong. Eric McDaniels must not have liked what I said so I will retract it publicly. LOL
Eric McDaniels is the truth; edge Henrico. And I forgot about J. Goode, he stepped up Friday night.

I am glad to see Coach Glasco get those guys back on track.
