Salem just won a game 58-0 totaling 391 yards(paltry for the score but their punting kept us on 30 yard scoring drives all first half) and without a single player rushing or passing for more than 100 yards. Beckley ran for 97 on 3 carries, Ramsey for 92 on 5 carries, and Robinson 91 on 6 carries with Beckley tossing in another 58 yards passing.

Never thought I'd see a team win by nearly 60 and nobody rack up a hundred yards somewhere.

Game could have been 100 -0. It was 37-0 at the end of the first Qt. And Salem made it 44-0 on first play of Second quarter. That's when the subs began to pour in. Second team defense allowed Carroll to get a few first downs in second quarter and second half so they could eat clock. Ramsey could have scored Everytime they pitched it to him wide. I'm just glad no one got hurt and the series is over.Does Salem no good to play them. Also another interesting factoid : Salem got a five yard penalty to start second half because their homecoming ceremony ran long.

I saw a team go up 28-0 in first quarter once and I don't think they had 50 yards total offense. Defense paved the way.

Amen to that! I feel bad for the Carroll kids. Next year, they'll be a 4A school going 2-8 or 3-7 against a 2A schedule. A special kind of purgatory. Unless,of course, someone decides to try to make some changes in Hillsville. Carroll County came within a whisker of making the Division 4 state semis in 2003, so it is possible to win there. Good luck to the Cavalier student-athletes as the adults struggle to figure things out.

Check this stat out.. In 2013, GW Danville beat Patrick County 84-0 while only managing 357 total yards and only SIX first downs for the whole game. Patrick County and Carroll meet every year and who ever wins usually goes 1-9 while the other goes 0-10.. OUCH!
