A minor surprise. Hidden Valley is seemingly a little improved over last year. The Titans’ history has been that they often can hang with physical teams, but almost always are overwhelmed by teams with a higher overall level of speed and athleticism. The next two weeks should reveal just how much HV has improved, as they’ll face Franklin County and Pulaski County.

As for Glenvar, things are starting to get a bit urgent, at 1-3. The Highlanders might not be the serious challenger to Radford they were expected to be. Losing to Galax and Riverheads is one thing; being held to seven points in a loss to Hidden Valley is something else entirely. Glenvar should be able to get well over the next three weeks, against James River, Carroll County, and Floyd County, before the big show down with the Bobcats.

Glenvar is 1-3 but hope the boys keep their heads up, keep working hard to get better and learn from the loses from a much tougher schedule. They will be much like the Radford team last year and everything will gel in the end. Glenvar moved the ball well on the ground but just too many mistakes. Glenvar QB passing is much improved. HV is much improved with a very good passing game. HV had the ball on the six and went for the win even though they came up short against Northside last week as time expired. Northside only lost to 4A Salem by one TD this week. Comparisons like this are not necessarily that accurate but at least it shows about where HV is. Glenvar should start hitting their groove after an off week.
