How many bad...

It's a whole lot more to coaching than the wins and losses u have to build them kids to be great citizens to the community respect their parents respect woman and the general public it's not all about teaching the game of football it's alot more than that

I'm beginning to think either people don't read posts and just post, or at least haven't been around all these years with me posting and calling out people who blast coaches and kids.

I never said coaches AND players weren't important in this or any other thread. I never once said it was all about wins and losses. Everyone seems to have missed the entire point of this thread. It wasn't to discuss the difference in good and bad records or what is more important.

The point of this thread was to point out all of the blasting that has went on throughout the boards this season and in years past of teams coaching when the teams are having success. Yes there have been talks across the boards in a few instances about how the kids are treated, that is a totally different conversation. It's the ones who complain about the x's and o's that I am referring to. When you complain about that, then it is about the on field product, and some of these instances are teams who are greatly improved over seasons past, when you didn't have the complaints. I guess that is better than complaining when they aren't good, but makes no sense.

What it makes me believe is people just want to have a reason to complain, and/or an excuse for when they lose that it couldn't possibly be the other team was better, that my area has the best players and if the coach did what I said he should do then we would beat everyone.

How else can it be explained when a fan posts about how awful the play calling is, and when someone says they will score x amount of points they tell that poster there is no way our offense will score so little. If the play calling is sooooo bad as you say, then you wouldn't be able to score the amount of points you say.

These are the exact reasons I have issue with people blasting coaches and kids here or anywhere. What it makes ME think in my opinion is that if things were the way you wanted it then you would never lose. It's never that the other was just better, at least on a given night.

I'll be the first to say it here, even if my team is 2 plays away from winning the 2 games they lost, they didn't make those plays, thus, the other team was better that night, and could be every other night

Maybe it's just the nature of people to complain, in which case your constant complaining about people complaining will result in people continuing to complain, whether they should be complaining or not.

Touche, even if there are different kinds of complaining. Such as babysitter is mean to me vs babysitter is abusing me

The other loss while in 2A was to Wilson where the decision to go for two cost the chance for a tie at the end of the game . I agree with the decision that night. I believe Draft came to the Hive the following week and took a loss as well that year. Solid Wilson group of athletes at that time. Of course Goochland owned the deed to the Hive during this stretch so there's always that.

Thanks for that memory. How could I forget THAT one? I knew that there had to be a fourth year in 2-A because they always schedule and re-organize things in two-year cycles. That game was a classic.

and Giles did the year they beat Riverheads, I believe.
That's correct, that's when Giles came from behind to beat Brunswick by 1 point in OT in the State Championship. Giles was down 6 late, went down and scored with 1 second left, then missed the extra point which sent the game to OT. Both teams scored in OT and a missed PAT from Brunswick is how Giles won IIRC.

I remember that championship well. The last second touchdown pass in regulation to Shrader for the tie was probably the most thrilling play I've ever witnessed. He had to get full extension and still managed to drag his toes in the back corner of the end zone.
