So in 1978, Washington & Lee did something that I've never heard of any other Virginia school ever doing..they played an inter-continental game. Winston Churchill High of Ontario, Canada made the trip down to Montross to play a game.

I'm not sure if a mix of CFL/NFL rules were used in the game or not, but W&L prevailed 30-6.

My father W&L played in that game I believe the first half was American football rules 2nd half was Canadian rules. I would have to check with him on that one. Heck of a team from what I have been told couple Head coaches came out of that team John Lewis, Malcolm Lewis, Roger Pierce to name a few and I think the "79" team played PM in the state championship game if I remember correctly PM came out the winner 20-6 would be nice to see that score flipped tonight in the Nest.
Safe travels to PM players and fans. Looking forward to a great game.

I know one my cousins played in the PM game that year. I was there with my aunt and uncle. It was some shady calls by the officials in that game. Every time W&L put a long drive together out came the flags. 5 or 6 times stalled by drives in PM territory.

Strasburg played that same Churchill team...

Early 80's I do believe...

How many shady calls did PM get last night? I was at the other gams you talking about, did not see any bad calls.

On the opening kickoff Sir Winston Churchill ran a trick play where their kicker lobbed a kick down the sideline and one of their outside gunners caught it in stride for a TD. W&L coach Dean East protested and the officials called for a do over — so much for Virginia hospitality. He always was a sore sport.

As for the championship game with Parry McClure they had a dude Timmy Jones that ran over and through W&L. ‘Nuff said.
