Interesting

Current events make this a flashpoint issue and could make this a difficult problem to overcome but it's also VA, where you can carry a non-concealed weapon if you're 21 and it's registered. In other words, walking around with a gun on your hip is not illegal as long as it can be clearly seen. Concealed weapon certification classes are also legal. Could become a legal wicket that LU has a history of going all the way with.

As Mike said, could be interesting.

I would think that instead of trying to fix what they perceive as problems on the campus of LU, the VHSL may want to try to spend some time fixing the problems they have in their own house. There are still conferences that are putting teams in a very bad disadvantage competition wise. I've said for years that there are way too many politics involved in an organization that is supposed to be all about the kids, coaches and the spirit of competition. Maybe some new blood coming into the system after this year will help address that.

As for the actual issue: Heaven forbid they take qualified individuals, teach and train them in firearm safety and the particulars surrounding carrying concealed weapons and then not just allow but encourage them to carry. Anybody wanna take a swing at when the last mass shooting was that didn't occur in an area that people weren't allowed to carry was?
