Numbers game starting to factor into outcome
JM has about 40 kids; Wythe has 20
Bulldogs wearing down
JM with a 70 yd td pass
2:00 left in game.
JM 48, GW 26.
That’s not even fair lol.. Marshall will dominate the boy’s basketball competition IF Ty White stays there. I believe JM will be a player for some state championships in football when they get to 2a.What's funny about this is JM will be Class 2 next year, Wythe will be moving up to Class 4.

What’s the story on the TJ/Goochland game? Have not seen any talk on that 14-7 Goochland win. I’m curious to know what TJ has since my 1A Essex Trojans play them in week 6. Essex won the 1st meeting last year 38-30.we will see (not counting any chickens)
what got lost in all the week one excitement is that TJ gave Goochland all they wanted. and will also be a player.
The John Marshall win really makes you raise your eyebrows about the Petersburg at JM game this week.
Although, I really think Petersburg will take the win. Coach Scott at Petersburg is a top shelf coach. And his son at QB is going to grow into a really good player.
If this was the first game for both, I would pick Petersburg, hands down. But, with JM winning and gaining confidence, and playing at home, I think it about levels the playing field.
Another game involving a Class 3 team that is interesting is Lafayette at Norcom. The Greyhounds have a tough game against Hopewell under their belt, and sure don't want their promising season to start out 0-2. It's Lafayette's first game, and at Norcom, but I'm giving the nod to Lafayette. The Rams are extremely well coached, and deeper than Norcom. But..., you never know.
Week two and three often bring us a few of those, "you've got to be kidding me", outcomes. So get your drink and popcorn, and take a seat, because here we go!

in August most defenses are ahead of the offensesEssex Trojan 1,
TJ has a very good defense. Very good speed and they came to play. Their struggle was on offense. Goochland's defense had a lot to do with that but they also did not help themselves with penalties while on offense. I would expect them to tighten up their offense in the next few weeks. TJ's score was a pick 6 at the beginning of the game. Goochland turned the ball over 5 times. Total yards was Goochland with 220 yds and TJ with 23 yds. TJ's defense kept them in the game despite their offense...
Thanks for breaking it down for me. I tend to pull for certain schools and Goochland is one of them when Essex is not playing them. Lol.Essex Trojan 1,

I think it is a good barometer of what TJ can do in C2. They will be competitive. With their defense, I can see upper half. Offense leaves me with some questions. If offense does not improve, they will be middle tier. If they are a team that builds momentum each year and improves as the season goes on like last year, they could be a tough out when they move to C2 ...I am gonna be watching to see how they adjust to being in C3 next year.
They will still be in the same district so we cannot tell until post season.
It is just fun to speculate but does this game give us any clue as to how TJ will do in C2;

Thanks - the reason I asked you is because there aren't any C2 teams in the RVA area and I have never actually seen any of them live (yet) in football.
Are you just a football fan or do you do basketball too.The thing that you will notice when going down to 2C is the facilities will not be as big or nice as some of the schools that TJ plays in the Richmond area. Some of the facilities out west are awesome. The drop off of top tier teams to middle tier teams will be a little more sharp in C2. Teams like Appomattox, Poquoson, RE Lee and many out west can compete with any 3C team at the top. I think having seen Goochland go to C3 back in 09 and 10 that the talent level goes deeper not only with each team but also from top to bottom in C3. Again, just my opinions...
Goochland still runs the Wing T. The new coach will have some different looks and wrinkles though.@G-DOG2 is Goochland still running the same offense?
