That’s true, I’ve never felt unsafe in Charlotte, even when my dad and I took a wrong turn and ended up at a Shoneys where we were def out of place lol but it was super cool and never did we feel unsafe driving around. I know there are some rougher parts of Charlotte but Richmond has a lot of rough parts now and if you aren’t on campus or other touristy type places, it could be trouble.

I’d LOVE to see Richmond really become a big industry hub and really become a true metro area. VA needs it, we need to bring in as many jobs as possible across the entire state, starting from my neck of the woods in far SWVA all the way to the coast. Arlington, Loudon Co, etc. shouldn’t be the places always getting the new jobs and big money opportunities. I’d kill for Wise County (or Richmond city) to get the school resources some of those counties get. I tell people all the time the issue isn’t between races of people but socioeconomic differences. Us poor folk don’t stand a chance, white or black, if we aren’t given any opportunity to succeed and make a good living close to home.

I love your full post bro. I would’ve made a great life in Charlotte but it’s kind of hard when you’re barely making 50k, getting paid 1 time a month and the cheapest/nicest apartment is 1400 a month. Charlotte has some of best people on earth down there and it doesn’t matter if you’re white, black or dooty turd green, everyone gets along. Just a great city to live in.

I 100% agree with spreading the wealth in our state. A lot of people don’t realize just how marketable your part of the state is and it would be nice to see some major industry between Big Stone Gap and Bristol and north to Bluefield. I was out that way in March and it’s really God’s Country and very accessible to Charlotte, Tri Cities TN and Asheville. Seems like NoVA gets everything.. The jobs, the higher wages and “better education”.. One of the things that I like about the Richmond region is we get some of those benefits without traffic, azzhole people and high cost of living. You’d be very surprised how many people live in the Richmond area and work in DC/NoVA.

From what we understood, our latest Convo with Coach Harman at Floyd Co, is that JM basketball wants to play up, but I think there's push back with the other sports at the school not wanting to. We talked to the VHSL about this as well and I believe they are looking at some options, maybe an open division. I feel like it should be easy to grant special cases, like JM basketball, to play up while the other sports at the school stay down.

There is already an option… the JM basketball program could opt out of the VHSL while the rest of the JM sports/academics stay in 2A. Several football programs around the state (including 2A Teams) have done so. Most of those football teams did so because they were NOT competitive but there are no limitations on opting out. JM could do this but they must just want the “state title” as another scalp in the trophy case.

Stop justifying JM actions…they play 2A because they obviously want to!

Aside from the one pound of ad hominem and other fallacy-filled in your post, your statement about blaming the VHSL is one I agree with. I do blame the VHSL. I don't blame John Marshall's players or fans or students. I blame the VHSL mostly, but question the character of the HC. If he had any ounce of competitive character, he would beg the VHSL to play up in basketball. And yes, JM could play up in Class 6 in hoops without doing it in other sports. Any person that makes an argument which basically states, "because someone gives critique of JM's Coach, that person has to be a racist" is exactly that, a childlike argument. You can spin it how you want to, but that was and is essentially your argument. So, right off the bat, I know I'm dealing with someone filled with racism and hate. I learned a long time ago, 99% of people that bring race into the equation for any given topic where race is not a factor......is in fact probably a racist.

By the way, you should have started your initial response in this thread with your most recent post which is ADULT and Smart, and not racist or bigoted. So, credit to you there and actually trying to discuss the topic itself without the personal stuff. As for your question on how they cheat? JM is not doing anything illegal. Legal and Illegal is NOT the standard. Legal vs Illegal are concrete operations. We are big boys, we do Formal Operations which means we take it step further. Is what they are doing Right or Wrong? Is what they are doing creating an unfair advantage to all of the other 99% of schools in Class 2? The answer to that question is YES. If the answer is Yes, that means they are cheating, or if you want to label it nicer, then ok....dishonest. Either way you spin it, it's not a fair playing field for all of the other 99% of schools in Virginia Class 2. And....if it makes you feel better (I know you liberals love "feelings") then I'm not just talking about the "white good ole boy schools" in the western part of Virginia. It's also unfair to the largely African American Schools in Class 2 Virginia. It's simply put, an unfair advantage. The AAU connection is wrong, period. It's led to JMU having a far, far easier access to attain players from outside of the area. Is it legal? Yep, and I never said it wasn't illegal. Is it wrong? Yes, it is. Same thing for Liberty. What they are doing is wrong and shouldn't be allowed. The VHSL should sever the AAU ties and regulate that issue in my opinion and that's where the unfair advantage rests. By the way, you will NEVER argue that it doesn't create an unfair advantage either because you know in fact, it creates a huge advantage for JM. All you can do and all you will do is revert to Concrete Operations (it is legal or illegal). Concrete Operations are 8th grade level thinking. I think you are older than that, so hopefully Formal Operations dominates your brain-space.

Who's been screwed-over more over the years? It's actually not Radford or Gate City or Virginia High. It's actually schools like Greensville County which has a large black population and even Brunswick because Greensville County has probably been the 2nd best Class 2 team in Virginia in 3 or 4 out of the last 7 years, but they are unfortunate enough to play in the East with JM. Greensville County has far more of a claim, concern or right to be upset than any team out west, including Radford. They aren't even getting to play for state titles and then lose to JM, because there has been many years were Greensville was better than Radford, Union, or the team that represented from the West. It's probably the same this year for Greenville as well. Probably the second best Class 2 team in Virginia in my opinion.

The Coach at JM I know has done good things for the community. I've read the articles and I know they are true. No human on earth that I'm aware of has ever denied that. I certainly don't. But, that doesn't justify the improper and unfair advantage they have in their ability to attain players. There is no way on earth that you can argue "it's not possible" for JM to play up in Basketball and have the VHSL make a rule for them to play up in Hoops only. We walked on the moon. We have AI that can reason 10,000 times faster than a human. We have nuclear warheads that can reach China in 25 minutes. Yes, we can easily make it where JM plays in Class 6 in Hoops. And, that's where I lose respect for the JM coach. I lose more respect for him for not begging, pleading, beating down the door to play up in Virginia than I do the unfair recruitment/AAU ties that leads to unfair recruitment.

That team from New York with 7 losses, has a 6'10 guy, a 6'8, a 6'6, and a 6'5. I don't know much about them, but I'm sure they're not like a typical class 2 school in Virginia.
