the little big word "if"Realistically speaking, if they make the right hire they probably will lose the national status but Richmond is loaded with basketball talent. IMO they should continue to be a state contender every year.
P'Burg announcement will be Monday.Job is posted on Richmond Public Schools’ site. Ty White is officially out at JM.
He’s from Petersburg and played there. Cats cry and moan about the man being in charge of Team Loaded, but before it was Team Loaded, it was Petersburg Elite. Helped kids like Frank Mason and Andrew Rowsey make it big and it became Team Loaded. Little history lesson for the false narratives about the man. Hope he’s great at the Burg. The city and their kids deserve it.Curious why is he leaving for Petersburg?
I HEAR HE WILL BE ADCurious why is he leaving for Petersburg?
I was coaching in the Valley when Rowsey was coming through. He wasn't the only kid from the valley that played for Pburg Elite. I know of 3 from the program I was involved with and there were others from other programs in that area. The rest played on a local team together coached by one of the assistant coaches with in the program. But, PBurg has been turning out players since before the chairman of the boards walked those halls and its been over 50 years since he was there. He’s from Petersburg and played there. The above is One way to look at it. The other way to look at it is.....he had an unfair advantage at 2 places and JM isn't his first go around. I think your narrative kind of lends credence to all the cats that have complained. He’s from Petersburg and played there. 1. JM was his first head coaching job, ever. The above is One way to look at it. The other way to look at it is.....he had an unfair advantage at 2 places and JM isn't his first go around. I think your narrative kind of lends credence to all the cats that have complained.
Ok, gotcha. I thought you were referring to White being at Petersburg as a HC prior to JM. As for him being an AAU coach prior to coaching HS, that's not just OK, but it's honorable and noteworthy service to helping young men. I just don't like ANY human coaching HS and AAU at same time. Purely my own view though. He'll do well at Petersburg. I was hoping he would go to William and Mary at some point. That was my hope anyway.1. JM was his first head coaching job, ever.
2. C2 coaches cried and cried (there’s many articles online of it) and now he’s off to C3 ball. No coach in C3 will cry if they have to compete against Petersburg.
Yeah he’d be a good gamble hire for any of the college programs in Virginia outside of UVA. I had a feeling he’d get some love from VCU after Odom left for UVA. Not many could make that jump but I believe Ty could ( like Penny Hardaway did). Petersburg Elite = Team Loaded though. I believe he renamed it to reflect its expansion outside of Petersburg. They’ve had Team Loaded “jv teams” in the 434 and in North Carolina at one point.Ok, gotcha. I thought you were referring to White being at Petersburg as a HC prior to JM. no it is for schools with small student populations and that is JM, TJ, and Armstrong@Fairlawncat bro we both got our wish. I’m so glad he’s out of C2. I hated JM in C2 just as much as you and some of the other posters did. I’ve always said that C1 and C2 are for the rural schools.
Yeah but you and I both know that all of those schools were once Triple A in the old format.no it is for schools with small student populations and that is JM, TJ, and Armstrong
Thanks for clearing that up. Going home and makes all the sense to take those resources back home. He’s from Petersburg and played there. We've hashed this out so many times it's exhausting. I have my take and you have your take and we've read tons of reasons why or why not and I've given mine multiple times on here.I’m so lost…what’s so wrong about Aau coaches coaching high school? Players getting consistent year around coaching benefits the players so much. If a player has the opportunity to be taught the game from a person who has the resources that White has year round, then what negative effects does it have??
Do you see a problem with 7v7 coaches coaching high school football too?? Travel baseball coaches coaching high school baseball? Wrestling club coaches coaching high school wrestling? It’s all the same.
You’ve never made it make any sense…that’s the thing. Just say you don’t like seeing kids happy playing sports and chasing their dreams then it’ll all make sense. No other reason for a grown man to feel the way you doWe've hashed this out how many times now? Pointless beating a dead horse. I have my take and you have your take and we've read tons of reasons why or why not and I've given mine multiple times on here.
To answer your question to the 2nd paragraph regarding wrestling, baseball, 7 on 7s. My answer is Yes, I see a problem with it, IF.....IF....the following (both criteria are met). The travel team or AAU or 7 on 7 or wrestling coach Is the Coach of a local HS team AND....he or she has players on his or her travel/AAU/wrestling/7 on 7 team that are NOT on his or her HS team.
What I just read from you was......."I don't like your opinion; therefore, there is something wrong with you." And no, I never wrote that "I don't want kids to be happy playing sports and chasing their dreams." Those are your words, not mine. That logic is fine, as long as it doesn't hurt other people. For example, "I like driving fast and chasing my dreams. I just want to go 110 on I-95, so let me be happy." That's crazy logic. You’ve never made it make any sense…that’s the thing. Just say you don’t like seeing kids happy playing sports and chasing their dreams then it’ll all make sense. No other reason for a grown man to feel the way you do
Virginia does have rules for VHSCA members that also coach travel teams. In Va you can not coach a team that only has your players from the school you coach at on it. You have to have players from different schools as well. They don't want you getting to coach your school team all the time year round. The rules in Va for this aren't in place and don't care of the "recruitment/transfer" angle. They just don't want you coaching your own kids all year. One final thing Phoebus Fan. My viewpoint isn't rare. There are several states that don't allow HS coaches to coach AAU and there are also several states that have some form of regulations in between such as....the HS Coach can coach AAU but not his own players, etc. Why? For the exact same reason I've given. Conflict of interest creates an unfair advantage. In these states with these regulations, the kids don't have their "hopes and dreams shattered." They go onto play major D1 and play in the league if they are good enough.
what has that to do with the present student populations?Yeah but you and I both know that all of those schools were once Triple A in the old format.
