They say his parents moved but the distance is only about 30/35 minutes. I commuted to Hampton for several years, no big deal. He is getting Div 1 interest and has not committed. Academically there is a significant gap between Lafayette and Phoebus. Maybe the family felt recruitment at Phoebus would be better this year with them. There could be a million legitimate reasons and a few sketchy ones. Kid's parents might have moved. Kids parents might have split, parents might have transferred for work. Those are the most likely cases. 99.99% of the time, the transfer is legitimate. But there is always that 0.01% that makes everybody jaded
I agree with you. Maybe he felt as Lafayette’s lone starting receiver returning and in the wing T his opportunities might be limited - he would have been double covered every game. Phoebus plays a more wide open offense.I think your last sentence explain the most logical reason IMO
Yes, but you know high school kids and their parents. One of the most difficult parts of being a HC. Sometimes their convinced the grass is greener somewhere else.Maybe so, but Phoebus didn't have a kid sign with UVA last year while Lafayette did. They also didn't bring home a ring like Lafayette did.

I'm glad you said this...Lafayette wasn't smelling anything funny when the kid from West Point transferred in several years ago, virtually crippling West Point's playoff hopes before the first practice.Funny you think something doesn't smell right - lol. Lafayette has been playing with everyone else's players for years.
Improving on Major D-1 recruiting has sailed on by him. Maybe a couple mid-majors might jump up? But the big boys have already made their offers or filled up. I seriously doubt this move has anything to do with recruiting. I would be willing to bet that it was family related. He isn't gaining anything (recruiting speak) by moving for his senior year. They say his parents moved but the distance is only about 30/35 minutes. The kid they recruited from KW, ironically enough left Lafayette and is playing his senior year at a private school in Florida.I won't name specific names, however, i can think of 15 kids off the top of my head from the last 10 years that weren't in Lafayette's zone to start with. They've poached kids from Warhill, Jamestown (crippling their program), York, Grafton, King William, West Point, Bruton etc. It's no secret. They've had kids participate in their weightroom during the off-season, participate in 7 on 7 and then a rub of the genie lamp and a few months later they are at Lafayette. Kids and their families have been "recruited" in middle school, despite being zoned for other schools and then "coached up" on how to (wink, wink) make it legitimate. Yeah, but this one smells fishy - give me a break.
That's why Lafayette is crying so loudly. He can't stand the thought that some kid has transferred out of the Rams program.I won't name specific names, however, i can think of 15 kids off the top of my head from the last 10 years that weren't in Lafayette's zone to start with. The academic comment was uncalled for, completely out of line and probably unsubstantiated.Well, that wasn’t me on here about that long ago game with Roberts. Underhanded slights? Please quote them. Gatling had been with Lafayette a long time and was named a Co Captain officially only 2 months ago. Whatever happened sure was very sudden. For any player to leave his Senior year with a long history there is unusual. If you go a private school that is an obvious recruiting improve perception. I’ll be the victim here ? It’s just HS football. Sure this year will be difficult. 3 starters are out for the year from injuries in the playoffs. In general your post is trash.
Academically on the School digger website that ranks all Virginia high schools, Phoebus is ranked #306 out of 327. It is substantiated and valid when a student transfers. Rest of your post is pretty much your hissy fit crap over me and Williamsburg. I could care less. Bye!The academic comment was uncalled for, completely out of line and probably unsubstantiated.
Lafayette "fans" were on here...better?
And you feel like my post is trash because you are butt hurt because I called your crying ass out over your hissy fit.
You get all high and mighty and thump your chest when a kid transfers in under strange circumstances but you lose your mind if one walks out? Yeah...the post was trash...post #1 in this thread is where the trash began.
Get over yourself Dwight. We appreciate your loyalty and enthusiasm for your Rams. But the Homer "we got screwed again" song and dance has worn out it's welcome. Unless you can figure out a way to blame the current governor, I mean....😂
And...your comment about moving into an area that has problems? You are aware of the demographics that Lafayette High pulls from in regards to housing. Right? Some fairly high crime rate areas. Quite a few Section 8 homes included. Doesn't make them second class citizens by any means, but don't throw stones at Phoebus. Lafayette's trophy case doesn't have that much glitter or shine.Academically on the School digger website that ranks all Virginia high schools, Phoebus is ranked #306 out of 327. Angry, hardly I just know the facts. High crime in Williamsburg? Been here 25 years, you must be delusional. I worked for 15 years with ABC Enforcement, the Hampton area does have problems. But I’m done arguing with you, your picture says it all , Yuk- Yuk!!And...your comment about moving into an area that has problems? Try not being such an angry old white guy. You'll feel better about yourself. Trust me.
You're denying crime in those neighborhoods?Angry, hardly I just know the facts. High crime in Williamsburg? Been here 25 years, you must be delusional. That would be very difficult economically in many cases. The median house price in James city county is $305,200 and Hampton is $167,500. Your Smithfield is equally difficult with a median price of $258,900. A lot of economic disparity in Tidewster. You're denying crime in those neighborhoods?
WOOOOHOOOO!!!! Not arguing with you.
But trust me when I tell you that I know those neighborhoods better than you do.
Butterflies, unicorns and rainbows in the Burg.
Hell...I can't figure out why the entire Hampton and Phoebus teams haven't transferred in if that's the case.... y'all need a better recruiting coordinator!
Correct, Loyal Greschem left for FL. Very good player. Don’t know what private school. Rebuilding year for Lafayette. The kid they recruited from KW, ironically enough left Lafayette and is playing his senior year at a private school in Florida.
