Key 3A clash this week. Any thoughts out there?
Lafayette handled 3B contender Goochland pretty well and beat as expected weak Grafton with 1st team out after the half by scoring 84 points.
York slipped by Gloucester 17-13 and then “won” by forfeit from Poquoson via their racist video fiasco I’m sure all have heard about.

I know it's early, but this game could decide the BRD...if Lafayette is clicking, it will likely be a long night for York.

Amazing how the past few years the big BRD games have been very early in the season. So early very little to see on York. I wonder if missing playing the past week and being only game 2 for them will hurt. Lafayette is totally healthy. Having played last week at Grafton on Bailey Field it will almost seem like a home game!

Big night for York!
Congratulations to Doug Pereira and his staff and kids for getting it done.

York played very well and deserved the win. Lafayette’s young secondary couldn’t cover the York receivers all night. On offense penalties and turnovers were killers in the 2nd half and the York D line dominated in the 4th Q. My opinion based on tonite is Lafayette is very vulnerable to a good passing team. The direct snap to their big Rb, #12 also worked well and was very hard to bring down. This is not the Lafayette of last year and will find in tough in the playoffs unless some big improvements are made. I can’t remember the last time in the last 10 years Lafayette was outscored in the 2nd half 21-0. This was no fluke or lucky win by York. They earned it.

Classy post @Lafayette. Great run by the Rams. Everybody eventually stumbles and tonight it was Lafayettes turn. They will be fine, but need to get things right, because Hopewell is nasty good and Henderson is averaging 5tds a night. Good luck to the Rams.

Thanks - you never know your weaknesses until you play an excellent team that is well balanced. Those weaknesses were exposed tonite and eventually all good things end. Lafayette had something like 5 4th downs stopped and none were close. Why so many 4 th Downs? Shockingly Lafayette has no real punter. Lots of work ahead for the coaching staff but that is the nature of football. I see Hopewell as the favorite in 3A right now.
My encouragement to the Lafayette players is their last state champion in 4A, had 2 losses in their first 4 games and made the adjustments. Will they?
