LCA is 9-0 and EC Glass is 8-1. Glass lost 12-0 to Heritage back in early September. LCA beat Heritage 14-6 mid-October.

Who wins this one and why?

Of course I'm pulling for Glass, but LCA is playing near perfect at this point of the season. Just give it to Gideon and let him run wild on teams, then occasionally pop the play action pass.

Glass has to play a near perfect game in order to beat LCA. They were penalized a little too much last week. Personal fouls, offsides mostly. A lot of fumbles and turnovers the past few weeks as well. Defense can't give up big plays, but also has to keep Giddy out the endzone. I know Woody love to throw it, but the playcalling the last few weeks has been great. I love the big play style from last year, but the "Bull" and run down main street has been working very well. Keep feeding Thomas, Carter, and Gilbert(give him some targets in the pass game too) in the run game. Thomas has been balling out the past few weeks on both sides of the ball. George needs to use them legs the Lord gave him if the pass is not there. Just please slide.

A lot of people are not giving Glass a chance, but it can be done. Would love to see this become a coaching chess match. If the game is close, Pacman hits another game winner for the Toppers, 17-14

I'm just not sure Glass has the offense to win. Here's the reality, Glass has given up 69 points to Seminole district opponents this season, which is not a bad stat in and of itself but the problem is LCA has given up 19 to those same six opponents, pitching three shutouts and winning every game. Neither team looks particularly gangbusters on offense but LCA looks a clear step above on defense.

LCA by 10-13 sounds about right. Call it 24-14.

If Glass sold out to stop LCA's running game would they be able to handle the Bulldog receivers? I don't know these teams well, but Heritage did a sound job of slowing LCA down. I think Glass has the weapons to score, but they have to spread the Bulldogs out. I am not suggesting a lot of passing either. Just create some space and out athlete them.

I don’t think Glass is patient enough to play smash mouth with calculated shots down the field.

If I am Coach Woody I do what it takes to win. I know the EC Glass offense is designed to give them them tons of looks that create space and running lanes. Once you get the backers cheating up you pop em deep or slant them with your athletes. If you fail play tough defense and try it again, again, and again. You can catch them guessing and hit a big run too.

You are probably the only person on preps that picked Glass to win!

Nope. I did too. @VolNation85 can you tell me how they did it.
Honestly Glass won it up front. They controlled the LOS on both sides of the ball. Glass also did a great job of keeping the Davidson kid in check for the first 1.5 quarters before he went out with an injury. Glass was already up 14-0 at that point though. The Glass defense played really well over. They only gave up 7 points tonight. The other LCA TD came on a fumble recovery by their D. The Glass offense did a great job of mixing up the pass and run too which kept the LCA defense on it's heels.

I won’t take anything away from Glass, they earned the win. It should be noted though that Heritage bottled up LCA for a half as well, and ended that half up by a score. But containing Gideon for a half is not the same as containing him for 4 quarters, as Heritage learned that night.

Everyone seems to think the only way to beat LCA is to containing the Davidson kid. Understandably so. However, people also seem to ignore the fact that LCA's defense gave up up over 330 yards of offense, 4 TDs, and only forced Glass to punt twice all night. But I guess that too was because Gideon only played one half on offense.

Dude I think you need to go back and re read that.

“Not taking anything away from Glass, they earned the win.”

Simply acknowledging that Heritage also neutralized Davidson and were up at half - before he went off for 150 yards in the second half.
