LCA just got 5 star sophomore QB Luke Gaither from Radford bobcats. Already offered by Toledo , Liberty , UNLV , and Arkansas.

He's not a 5 star. Has potential to end up a high 4 star by the end of summer 2026, which will be the end of his junior year/beginning of his senior year, but not a 5 star.
Came here to say this. Stars aren't "given" until they are enrolled in their Junior year, and sometimes not until Spring-time their junior year. 5-stars aren't officially awarded until senior year if I remember right.

I will also say this; LCA is always the talk of recruiting/transfer this, that, and the other, but until we see him in a Bulldog uniform, I'm not going to fret. If he is, then he is. Honestly there wasn't much I saw from his time at the Radford helm that will be an improvement for LCA at the QB position. I guess only time will tell.

So with a situation like this is the family required to move to Lynchburg?
In theory they are supposed to "live" within LCA school zone to be eligible for sports. I use the term "live" loosely because VHSL only really requires a physical address in the school zone where you intend to play sports. Where you sleep at night is up to you. LOL

Exactly. His offer list doesn’t match his play..imo. Wish the kid well, going to be a huge adjustment for the family.

Not that it really means anything now but 247 has already put a list of 58 QBs in his class and he’s not on it. Not sure how the 5 star thing came about. I think the 3 best QBs in class of 27 are in 757 too btw.

On3 since their inception, has always rated sophs - seniors. With On3's acquisition of rivals I would expect the same coming down the shoot with rivals.

Stars are based on the NFL draft. 5-Stars are projected 1st round NFL draft picks. The rankings are how the National Experts project that player would be slotted if their class was drafted today.

#1 ranked player in a class is projected to be the 1st pick of the draft for their draft year. The 33 ranked player is projected to be the 1st pick in the 2nd round.

In the Rivals 2027 rankings, LaDamion Guyton is ranked #1 so is projected (as of today) to be the 1st pick in the 2031 NFL draft.

It is not an evaluation. Players don't "eventually" move up because moving up means someone drops down.

Here is an article on how Rivals did with the most recent NFL draft

Correct. On3 uses a composite ranking from all the major recruiting sites (Rivals, ESPN, 247 and of course On3). When the databases merge, we've been told that will continue and the composite rankings will be incorporated into the Rivals rankings.

ESPN has always been sub-par, weighting them equally is bad form. I get why it's being done, but it's still bad form. 40-40-20 would be best.
