Manassas Park D-1 transfer

Manassas Park D-1 transfer from PAUL could change Region 3B. I look for them to blow through Region B till the Finals

So he just transferred in the last month (according to the newspaper article) - how does that work for high school sports?

Apparently he was technically enrolled at the school before the playoffs started so he was eligible...

I've just never heard of that before - not questioning the legality of it.

I always thought you had to sit out a semester before you transferred to a new school.

But I don't know the rules and was just curious - thanks for answering.

neither do I
but this don't pass the smell test
even if it is legal

It is his home school. I think that makes a difference. He could not go from a public school to another one. But if he just leaves a private school(for whatever reason), he has a right to attend school and participate, as long as he does not violate other rules, like the more than 22 regulation season game rule. And as long as he enrolls before regular season ends. I don't envision this becoming a trend.

Midseason private-to-public transfers happen occasionally but I think even public-to-public is legal if the player meets all the requirements, remember the situation a couple years ago where a player who played a full football season for Western Branch transferred to Oscar Smith (mainly for basketball) and was immediately eligible to suit up for the OS football team in the playoffs? I think the VHSL put an end to playoff transfers after that but it's still legal during the regular season.

There were 2 regular season games(at least) left when he joined team.
Come on schoolboard. I've always respected your posts on here, but you are stretching it lol. I do believe the article said the team had to forfeit a game the kid played in because he went over the limit for a high school regular season. Something just don't feel right about allowing this to happen.

I announced the game they had to forfeit. I am aware. I even appreciate all the "10 day contract" and "trading deadline" jokes on twitter. I am just trying to be fair, since I don't know the whole situation.
