Who yall got? Biggest game in the state of VA this week. Matoaca is loaded, but Dinwiddie owned this same team last year, EASILY.

On paper, Matoaca should be on a collision course to play Maury at Bridgeforth. Their offense (on paper) is as high powered as they come but they’ve played down to their level of competition, tremendously. Dinwiddie is hands down the better coached team in this one which may be the difference over talent. What yall think?

I'm going Dinwiddie but a big part of that is just I don't believe in Matoaca. They went into the Dinwiddie game last year with chest poking out and got absolutely pounded. Also Dinwiddie's defense is very underrated. Those guys are athletic, fly to ball and look much better than last year.

@GoBlue2109, I agree with you about the general defense. Last year's Dinwiddie offense was very physical and I for one miss #5 Rafael Tucker. Our running game is not nearly as physical and this causes me some concern. Last year we just simply pounded Matoaca's big d line into submission. The Generals have the weapons to do it again, but I have no clue whether Mills will choose this path at this point in the season.

@BoKnowsSports, made several great points above and I must admit the Warriors have some studs on both sides of the ball. On paper one would give Matoaca the advantage, but Coach Mills always has our young men ready for Matoaca.

Dinwiddie cannot let Matoaca strike quick and get down early. Establishing the run and short passing game is the key to success. Dalton must be a force and run the ball with authority. The Dinwiddie defense must pressure the Matoaca qb, but keep him from eluding the pocket. Might have to pick our poison.

Dinwiddie has faced some very sound teams with talent equitable (or better) than Matoaca. The Warriors have not faced a team with the talent of the Generals and have not been punched back. It will be interesting to see how Matoaca responds.

If you play trends Mills is 15-4 against the Warriors and the Generals have not lost to Matoaca since 2015.

Both teams will be playing for the unofficial Central district championship and #1 seed in their respective regions. I look forward to a very emotional and physical contest. Maintaining a cool head may be the determining factor.

Both teams have the ability to get the job done. My biased and trend based prediction is a Dinwiddie win.

Their schedule for sure has been soft all across the board. They haven’t played a team the caliber of Dinwiddie since playing Stone Bridge last year. They’re going to have a lot of confidence tho but how will they react if they go down 14-0 in Dinwiddie? At home, with the best player in the state, and one of the best HC in VHSL History and an extra day of prep….. give me Dinwiddie 28-7.

Here's some interesting material @BoKnowsSports and @General172011. Matoaca's OOD opponents records are a combined 9-18. Dinwiddie's is 24-3. Dinwiddie gave up 93 points ood and only 31 since. Matoaca only gave up 19 points ood and have given up 36 in district play. Per @CRF4Dan, Harry Dalton has only lost four regular season games as a QB (25-4) 2 to Maury, 1 to Glenville HS Ohio, and Thomas Dale. Three occurred last season. I like those trends as well.

It should only be three, we really gave that Dale game away last year smh

I was at both games when TD played Dinwiddie/Matoaca. Matoaca is fools gold. Aside from the 1st play from scrimmage for Matoaca, they did nothing offensively.

However, Dinwiddie didn't fare much better (Dale's defense has been their brightspot this year IMHO), BUT, Dinwiddie was able to get a few drives going, something Matoaca didn't do.

Matoaca is very undisciplined. It's going to cost them

Dinwiddie 28 Matoaca 14

Harry will run for 2
throw for 1

5 for Matoaca will catch 1
2 will run for 1

@General172011, its ok to give Dale their flowers when deserved. They forced 5 turnovers in that game, they took it

I know I know lol we still had an opportunity to win it at the end and turn it over again before the buzzer 🥺. That game against Dale this year we were in our own way penalties & missing assignments left and right but they’ve gotten so much better since that game on both sides of the ball. Tomorrow we shall see how much better. Dinwiddie will move the ball no matter the team it’s the red zone that they tend to struggle this year. They struggled mightily in the red area against Maury Hopewell & Dale. If they improve that the red area I don’t see how this game is close

If Matoaca got William Fleming in the 5C Region Championship what would be your thoughts on that? Fleming is a very good team currently at 8-1. Saw them play Salem earlier this year. They have a solid running back commited to Syracuse. I know this is a 4A page but just wanted to throw it out there

One correction bro, Fleming is 9-0. MaxPreps had Franklin County over them 41-7 but it’s wrong. I like Fleming to go to the big game. They’re well coached and play disciplined football. Maury will be a huge challenge but Fleming is probably their best match up in C5 out 64 West.

Fleming is a lot better than last year, but getting out of the Reg will be tough. IDK how good Matoaca is, compared to last year, but they smashed Fleming 42-3. I have no doubt Fleming can do it, but playing Richmond area competition in the playoffs will be a big step up compared to the BRD & RRD schedule they've played so far.

I'd love to see it, but there are some big obstacles in the way. I hope they rise to the occasion, and make it all the way to JMU. I can't see anybody beating Maury, but it would be a great experience for the players and coaches just to take that road together.

I like Fleming in that matchup for the simple fact that they will slow the game down to neutralize Matoaca’s athletes. It will for sure be closer than it was last year but the way William Fleming has been taking care of business so far I believe that they can pull it off.

I think Fleming will finish the regular season 10-0 tonight. Staunton River may be the best 4-5 team in the state. They’ve had so many close games this year not to their way. I don’t think they can slow down Flemings Syracuse commit. That guy is a very impressive running back

5C isn’t as strong as I hyped it up to be before the season. Matoaca, Bird and Louisa all have really good teams but definitely have their struggles as well. I think it’s a huge difference in Fleming coming 3.5 hours to Chesterfield and Matoaca going 3.5 hours to Roanoke, playing in the mountains on a cold November night/afternoon.

The way that it’s looking is gonna be a pretty warm day that night 😂😂😂😂 80° in November is outlandish
