Four pitchers combined to throw a no-hitter as Mataoca defeated Princess Anne 9-0 at Christopher Newport University. Senior James Womack started and threw four shutout innings while striking out three to earn the win.
Jacob Waltman, Grayson Kirby and John Bowles all threw one inning each without allowing a hit. The Cavaliers only had seven base-runners including three hit-by-pitch.
Mataoca scored nine runs on 10 hits with nine different batters collecting a hit. Ty Pannill and John Bowles each drove in two runs while Pannill singled in Jacob Floyd for the games 1st run in the top of the 1st inning.
The score remained 1-0 until the Warriors scored six runs in the 4th inning. Matoaca loaded the bases then received RBI singles from Hunter Vaughan and Liam Fahy. With the bases still loaded, Floyd walked to give the Warriors a 4-0 lead and Pannill followed with another bases on balls.
Bowles and Jacob Green added two more runs before the inning was over via a sacrifice fly and a single. Bowles and Womack added RBI doubles in the 6th inning to end the scoring.
