Records from the regular season mean nothing to the "management" of 2A East...the entire playoffs for fall and spring team sports (minus basketball) are set up for the next 14 years--until the system matrix is voted out or revamped. It is a arbitrary but fair system which allows ALL teams to know in advance who they play and where, especially in the semis and finals. However, it doesn't lend itself to get the teams with the best records (seeding) reaching the finals. That involves more planning and work--another topic for another discussion.
Next spring 2015 season, here is how its setup....the quarterfinals always stay the same (play neighboring conference) I am not a big fan of that, but it cuts down on travel.
Game 1: Conf. 34#2 at Conf. 33#1
Game 2: Conf. 33#2 at Conf. 34#1
Game 3: Conf. 36#2 at Conf. 35#1
Game 4: Conf. 35#2 at Conf. 36#1
Game 5: winner of 3 at winner of 2
Game 6: winner of 1 at winner of 4
Game 7: winner of 6 at winner of 5

Conf. 34 champ has home-field advantage...then in 2016, conf. 36 has advantage throughout, then 2017, its conf. 35. Conf. 33 had the advantage in 2014 (this past season) but Nandua could not take advantage.
So if Strasburg is Conf. 35#1 & reaches the title game again in 2015, they host it.

I understand how it works but as far as me liking it hell no. I know times have changed but when I played we seeded the whole region and the #1 hosted until they lost. In this format the only thing that matters is reaching the conference finals. The regular season really dont mean much since all teams qualify for the conference tournament. I would much rather have the whole region tournament hosted at a neutral site as geographically fair to all teams. No team that goes 20-1 in the regular season and wins their conference should travel to a team with a losing record lije strasburg had to at Maggie Walker. The VHSL is stupid in that aspect. All is good in 2A east the Bull Run district showed they are the best in that region. I understand the whole rotate conference hosting but really a losing record in regionals come on. When I played you either had to win your district or get to title game in district tourney to advance. It is just odd to me to have a losing record host any game in the playoffs in any sport

The regular season doesn't mean a whole lot anymore as far as a district is concerned. A lot of districts are split amongst 2 or 3 conferences. I think I'd prefer to see the regular season be geared more towards a conference schedule rather than a district schedule. That way you at least have a chance to see most if not all of your competition when you get to the tourney. In cross country last year and we'll be doing it again this year, we schedule a lot of our conference opponents so that we'll know how we stack up against them come the conference meet.
