According to this article, Stonewall Jackson is moving up to 2A next school year and has asked to transfer to the Bull Run District. Likewise, George Mason will move up to 3A and requested transfer to the Northwestern District (which would even out the district to 7 4A and 7 3A teams). That will definitely change the dynamic next season.

I had heard this was coming. I'm not against that moves, but does Stonewall really need to change from Shenandoah? And do you think they be voted into Bullrun?

According to the athletic director, Bull Run has already agreed to the move and it's with VHSL for final approval. I think it would be a good move in the sense that Jackson, Strasburg and Central are all near each have already have a friendly rivalry. Being in a large district limits the number of non-district games you can schedule, which keeps these rivals from playing each other.

As for Mason, they could play rivals Manassas Park and William Monroe again. Mason also wants to play non-district opponents, preferably large schools. Their trip to the Smoky Mountain tournament in Tennessee was a great success and I'm sure they'd like to do that again as well.

Oh yeah, I get the GM move 100%. They have proven all that can be proven in their current station. Time to progress forward and upward. The only sad part is that now they won't come put on a show in Radford come June. I always enjoyed that.
