Just out curiosity , How does a school raise the money , or get the money to convert over to Field turf? I believe it costs around 1 to 1.5 million minimum to do this. Did the school district pay for it ? Or was it donated? Just wondering. thanks in advance.

I'm not sure but Forest is a very affluent area. The other 2 Bedford Co schools (Liberty and Staunton River) don't currently have field turf. If I had to guess in this case I'd say fundraising or a generous donation. Salem did it several years ago, one of the big reasons was to keep the Stagg Bowl. The field was a mess in December the year or two before they put in the turf.

Field Turf on a stadium that is one of the worst I have ever been to. The visitors bleachers are concrete and suck. That entire "stadium" should of been renovated.

I think it came from the "Cavalier Club" fundraising events done over the past few years and probably a couple large donations from wealthy alum from JF. If the school district paid for it then the other schools in the district would have the same thing.

There's no disputing that Field Turf is something that provides return on investment. Over time, it saves money. Within 5 years, it pays for itself with the reduction in maintenance costs. That's why schools go this way.

Initially, I loved playing on an artificial surface. After less than a season, I absolutely hated it. Real turf for me. Every time. Any sport.
