Glad to have full VHSL sports back this Fall (especially Football and Volleyball).

Here are a few notes on the upcoming Northumberland Indian Football season plus an update on star Cameron Seldon.

1) As NNDman recently announced, Northumberland will scrimmage 3A Caroline from the Battlefield District - August 13th at NHS (an excellent and most needed addition to the schedule).

2) Northumberland will also scrimmage the defending Region A Champion West Point - August 20th at NHS.

Both of these scrimmages will be vital and most intriguing (at least in my opinion). Both games will begin at 6 pm.

Northumberland will face state powerhouse Essex away on October 8th in Tappahannock for Essex's Homecoming....

Northumberland will dress about 40 varsity players next week. Not a bad turnout with all the crazy covid upheavals the last year and a half.

Northumberland only has 4 home games during the regular season. Only one home game against a major rival, Rappahannock. (Not good for the all important football gate).

Football powers Essex, Washington and Lee, and Colonial Beach all away....Coach Lewis and staff will have a lot to prepare for indeed.

The new 247sports.com (CBS Sports) rankings are out - Northumberland football star Cameron Seldon was one of the biggest winners in the nation as he jumped to #34 in the rankings for his Class of 2023. Cam is 7th in WR and 2nd overall in the state of Virginia.

Seldon also recently received an offer from the ACC's Syracuse in New York.

Exciting sports times for the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula.

King and Queen has one of the weirdest schedules that I've ever seen. They play 6 away games and 4 home games. The weird part is the first 6 games are all away. Their first home game isn't until October 16th.
