Of All The Playoff Teams Who Has The Nastiest Defensive Unit ?

That’s a loaded question. I would argue that no team has faced the competition they will face through these playoffs cause everyone has ate some cake this year. I do however agree that a solid defensive team usually wins the chip.
I understand but its gonna take a nasty defense to SLOW your Gladiators. Just trying to see whats out there east or west.
It doesn’t take nasty, in my humble opinion it takes assignment football and owning the point of attack. Of course that goes for every team out there really. No matter the team when the O line is playing downhill and teeing off by dictating the line of scrimmage, it’s a long night for a defense. Can’t be too aggressive but can’t sit back either. Controlled aggression is the name of the game for anybody that wants to be in Salem.
Their pass defense may be their ultimate downfall ,but West Point has just as good of a run defense as anyone. Great linebacker play and a solid front four. They are extremely tough against the run. Very blue collar team. I haven't seen Riverheads this year, but I'm sure they are still fundamentally sound on that side of the ball as well.
I would throw Chilhowie's D in the ring. Their run defense is really good and their pass defense has gotten better through the year. They only allowed 66 points so far this year..
Chilhowie played 6 playoff teams this season.
They averaged giving up 204 yards per game of total offense and only allowed 1 passing touchdown all season.
Rural Retreat won 1 game all season.
Their offense averaged 7.6 ppg through the first 9 games.
Last week against George Wythe they scored 34, & the score was tied with 2 min to go.
Riverheads has the best defense I have seen this year. Only gave up 11.3 points per game. Gave up 28 to undefeated East Rock, and 19 to 9-1 Central of Woodstock

RR only won two games and in the final game of the season against GW a sophomore RB ran for 336yds and 5 rushing TDs. That game really went down to the wire! Gw scored the go ahead TD with 2:11 left. Was really hoping to see an upset but in hindsight the prize would have been a trip to Galax and nobody in the west wants that right now...except maybe Chilhowie!!!

This is a misleading statement if I’ve ever seen one. Go ahead and list the 6 playoff teams they played and their records. Too many teams get in the playoffs with losing records.
West Point held Rapp to just 70 yards last night, Rapp had one 61 yard TD on the second pay of the game and got held to just 9 yards of total offense the rest of the game

These teams are not very good at all simply because the West side of 1A is not competitive. Chilhowie has a good team, however, they have benefited from the rest of the West being non-competitive, except for Galax. This was proven last year in the State Championship game. Just because a team is undefeated doesn’t make them a great team.
And you cant have it both ways. You call them out because they said they played 6 playoff teams, which they did. Then ask what those teams records were. Then turn around and say a record doesnt mean a team is good??? So a record means a team is bad, but not good?
Maybe none of these little ole 1a teams couldn't beat Pulaski, but doesn't mean they cant be good for their level. I think Galax a few years ago (6-4) and Blacksburg (5-5) may have something to say about record.

Not my first time here and I can say what I want. I’m familiar with 1A and it is factual that 1A West is not very competitive right now except for two teams. Also, I’m not comparing any of these teams to Pulaski. That’s like comparing apples to oranges. I just get tired of posters believing their teams are so great when they’re, at best, just a good team. This goes on on every board. Truth hurts and it looks like it hurts you a lot.

I think what he is saying is that just because a team has good numbers it does not mean that they are necessarily great. The competition played against can greatly affect the numbers. We had only given up 86 points all year through 9 games and looked like world beaters. Then we give up close to 500 yards of offense and 36 points in the last game of the season.
What I don't understand is why everyone says the competition is so much weaker in the West than the East. It looks af if there is two or three top teams in the East each year, the same as the west. I get the east has won state the last two years although that was the same team. Riverheads has clearly been the class of 1a the past two years.

Not my team, so doesnt hurt me. They can have their opinion just as you can, difference is they dont blast you and come from the board they are usually posting on to diss a team.

But since you want to talk about scheduled teams that arent good because of record but made the playoffs: Cave Spring, Hidden Valley, Christiansburg, Patrick Henry. 2-8, 3-6, 2-8, 6-4. Oh, but you played Northside, Blacksburg, Salem... 3 losses.
Maybe don't be such a hypocrite complaining on the 4a board about how Pulaski doesnt get any respect, then go to another board and bash another program because they are undefeated and think their team is good

I’m not disrespecting by disagreeing with what someone else posts. The 4A board is different. It’s all about Salem and I’m ensuring Pulaski Co gets the credit they deserve. You are still missing my point that 1A competition is weak this year, unlike other years, so Chilhowie’s record may not be indicative of how good they are. Also, I never claimed Pulaski Co was so great, just pretty good that can play with most 4A teams.
