Parry McCluers' COOK, FISCHER and NELSON rule Stonewall Invitational Meet

Parry McCluer Senior KJ COOK, Junior JOSHUA FISCHER and Senior JEREMY NELSON ruled the Shot-Put and Discus Events on Cinco De Throwyo Day at the Stonewall Jackson Invitational Meet.. All three "BLUES BROTHERS" were for the most part consistent in the Shot Event with COOK holding on to notch the 1st place spot with his best heave of the day coming at 54'-5" with NELSON following up in the 2nd place spot with a chunk of 49'-11" and FISCHER, a little off his game but still good enough to seal the 3rd place spot with his best fling of the day coming on his final throw at 49'-4"...

The "BLUES SISTERS" (literally)Lady Throwers, SUMMER and SAVANNAH SNIDER also stole the spotlight in the Ladies Discus Event finishing 1 and 2 respectively...

In the Men's Discus Event it was the "BLUES BROTHERS" again rising to the challenge to seal the top three spots with COOK, still consistent finishing in the 1st spot with a heave of 164'-1".. with team mate, FISCHER stepping up to take the 2nd place spot and setting a "NEW PERSONAL BEST THROW" for him with his best chunk of the day on his final throw at 140'- 2 1/2" and NELSON notching the 3rd spot coming in at 118'-10".... CONGRATULATIONS MEN and LADIES, Well Done!!

COOK and FISCHER were nominated and selected and will travel to Richmond, Va. next week to compete at the Southern Classic Meet which showcases the top 15 throwers in the STATE in both the Shot-Put and Discus Events.. FISCHER goes in seated in the #8 spot in the Shot Event with COOK stepping in at the #3 spot.. FISCHER just missed the cut (prior to today's performance) and failed to qualify for the Discus Event however, team mate COOK will step in seated in the #2 spot.. After speaking with each young man, COOK and FISCHER (1A) are excited for the opportunity to compete against "new throwers" which include several from 4,5,and 6A schools and anticipate having a good outing and both have high hopes of moving up in the final standings.. WE SHALL SEE.. GOOD LUCK TO YOU BOTH AND HERE'S TO BIGGER THROWS AND BETTER MARKS!!
