Here are some updates on today's Peninsula District clash in Hampton at Darling Stadium between the reigning Class 3 State Champion Phoebus Phantoms (6-0) and the Kecoughtan Warriors (4-2)....

The Phantoms get the scoring started with QB Nolan James, their dual-threat signal caller who transferred in from Nansemond River before the season and has been rock solid throughout this 2022 campaign.

Kecoughtan moved into Phoebus territory, but didn't stay there for long as the Phoebus defense holds strong as they've done all year in giving up just 6 points, which came in a 41-6 rout of Bethel on September 17th.

A lot of people here at Darling were perplexed about this, not knowing the rule that you can try a free kick if you will at the end of the half. The entire Phoebus sideline was ready to erupt as kicker Ashoy Jackson nearly made it, but it fell a couple yards short.

A dominant half of football by Phoebus and one that Kecoughtan would like to forget. Also not comforting for the Warriors was that their stud two-way lineman David Anderson, a Duke commit, departed midway through the first half with an injury in this one.

From the Phoebus 32-yard line on 4th & 8, the Kecoughatn pass is incomplete. That turnover on downs gives Phoebus the ball with 6:28 to go in regulation and the Phantoms comfortably ahead 55-0.

At this point, Phoebus has now outscored its opponents 248-6 in contests that they've played, and when you include the 2-0 forfeit victory over Denbigh, it's 250-6.
