Phoebus QB Maurikus Banks Commits to ODU

Pretty premature with 2 full seasons left to pull the trigger in my opinion…but congrats to him
Nowadays, until they put pen to paper, a commitment doesn't mean what it used to. With 2 more years, if he continues to develop, he'll have much bigger schools after him, if they aren't already

Potential reality might be with his size that his options at QB are limited. Between that and location it might have been an easy choice for him. If he succeeds there he can always take a step up. No clue if he has non-QB potential elsewhere or if he'd even entertain such notions now (hence my first sentence).

If I’m an undersized QB, and I want to play QB in D1, I’m seeking out G6 or FCS programs to play my preferred position. Rodney Landers at JMU out of Landstown (I think?) is a great example of that path working out well for everyone involved.

You have to commit now if you want your spot. That transfer portal is absolutely brutal for high school kids. Congrats to the young man, he’s a 🐶 and a huge get for ODU.
The transfer portal is brutal but you know like I know that a verbal commitment two years out means nothing to coaches. Half of them probably won't be at their current schools in two years.

All facts bro. I know you tell your guys to respect those “little offers”. Never know when that Liberty offer turns into an Oregon offer when a coach leaves. JMU is the perfect example a year ago. JMU to the CFP (Indiana).
