On Friday, April 14th the Throwing Duo from Parry McCluer HS Senior, KJ COOK and Junior, JOSHUA FISCHER again took top honors at the Radford All American Relays Track & Field Competition in the Shot-Put and Discus events.. COOK sealed the 1st place spot in the Shot competition with a heave of 54'-11" followed closely by teammate FISCHER notching the 2nd place spot with a chunk of 52'-4", with the 3rd place finisher over 5 feet off of Fischer's best throw...
In the Discus event COOK sealed the 1st place spot on his last throw of the day with a "PERSONAL BEST" throw of 162'-4".. FISCHER held onto to finish in the 3rd place spot with a heave of 131'-6", less than 2 feet shy of the 2nd place finisher @ 133'.. Fischer had a great throw in the 3rd round of over 140' however, he was unable to complete the follow through and scratched his best throw of the day...
The next meet for the "Blues Brothers Duo" will be at home on April 19th for a "District Only Meet", in which COOK and FISCHER may or may not compete due the level of competition and the fact that they have both already qualified in both events for the State Meet in June.. The duo may opt to sit out the District Meet and rest/practice for a couple of upcoming larger events that will challenge them to compete against other throwers of similar marks.. Barring any injuries it's shaping up to be an interesting June!!!
