Toriono Combs Jr. of Portsmouth Christian has committed to FCS Presbyterian. The Blue Hose play in the Big South and recently hired a new Head Coach in Kevin Kelley. If that name sounds familiar, it's because Kelley is the internet sensation known for not punting and only running onside kicks. So far the experiment is working out well as the Blue Hose are 2-0 with a combined score of 152-46.
"I like his style of coaching," Combs said. "It's different from the rest of these college coaches. The style of play is very attractive, he isn't punting and winning at the college level."
Combs will be on the field a lot as the offense stays on the field a lot for Kelley. In their two games this season, Presbyterian has run 145 plays and gained 1,449 yards. In their first game, QB Ren Hefley threw for 10 TDs.
"It does put more pressure on me, but it's a good feeling," Combs said. "It's a good feeling because you know your coach trusts you can get them a couple of yards and a first down."
Combs still has the rest of his senior year to play as Portsmouth Christian is 2-0. The Patriots play 1-1 Catholic this week.
