I can't say factually. I just remember the media GUYS, maybe Zach from RTD saying they were getting healthy. It may have been Hess and Criswell. I am honestly not sure who said it or what that meant. I just know it was discussed the past few weeks.

Thanks Navy! Can’t say I’ve followed them as closely as I had planned to this year. I watched the Monacan game and thought Powhatan looked very physical up front. Like the way their big boys block downfield. Almost a carbon copy of a traditional Salem team. I’m personally looking forward to seeing Henderson vs Dalton. The best player in the region vs arguably the most dominant.

Bump this thread to the top.

@BleedingNavy @CRF4Dan who was injured for Powhatan this season? I know Navy said they are finally getting back healthy.
I'm not sure about the injury part... I think Jameson Britt might have been a little banged up early but I know the big topic especially last night at the TD Club of Richmond meeting was the fact that QB Elliott Murphy has improved as the season has progressed and is not turning the ball over as much as he was.

I think Dinwiddies speed will work in its favor. May be close through half but by the 4th I say 14-17 point win.

I want to see Dinwiddie vs Varina or Huguenot for the regional championship at Dinwiddie. Huge admirer of the Dinwiddie program and Billy Mills. Dinwiddie got the worse draw of the bunch. Powhatan isn’t an 8 seed talented team, could’ve very well been a 4-6 seed. I’m not trying to convince myself or anyone to buy stock in the Indians, but I think it’ll be a lot closer than most are thinking. Lots of favorable match ups for both sides on Friday.

The only thing I can say is that I believe Dinwiddie is playing their best ball of the season right now, and for this time of year, they are about as healthy as any team could expect to be.

The interest in the game last week brought out quit a few non-regular fans. The game did not disappoint, so hopefully most will come back out again this week. The crowd last week was “electric” and I truly believe they were the 12th man. Hopeful of a repeat.

Just curious @BoKnowsSports. We know how Powhatan matched up against Huguenot, because they played. How would they do against Varina and King George.
Powhatan’s the worst nightmare to a team like Huguenot or Varina. Look at what happened in 2021 they played. Powhatan was minus 2-3 athletes to this years’s team and Varina won the state championship. 28-27 Varina that year. Powhatan lost to Huguenot twice last year by a combined 9 points. In the playoff loss, Huguenot scored with no time left to win. This year was the outlier where if they played 5 times, 4 would be close (toss up for either team) and 1 would be a blowout.. This year was the blowout. I really don’t know how they stack up with Dinwiddie or KG.. I think Mills and Lunsford are PROVEN to make adjustments vs a slower paced/power team.

Thanks @BoKnowsSports . I have watched their video and like what I see. The Indians rb's seem to be used as decoys for the passing game and their QB Elliott Murphy gets most of the yardage on the ground. Powhatan certainly can throw the rock and they have three darn good receivers to go get it in Whitver, Henderson (Penn St.) and Morris.

The Indians have a solid defense, but the one area Dinwiddie can have success is their greatest strength. Powhatan has struggled mightily with their opponents run game. The Generals can surely run it and that's what they did last week to wear Matoaca down in the fourth quarter.

According to stats on Maxpreps, Dinwiddie averages about 100 yards per game more than Powhatan on the ground and the passing yardage is only separated by 30 yards per game.

Defensively, Dinwiddie holds opponents to under 100 rushing and 149 yards passing per game. Powhatan looks to give up about 200 on the ground and 150 in the air per game. That's about a 100 yards per game difference.

Both teams have very experienced coaches who know how to win. The two teams have faced once in 2022 and Dinwiddie's won convincingly.

Yes, Powhatan has proven they can play good teams well and can score, but they have also given up a lot of points in those games. In fact, they have given up more than 20 points five times and have lost four of those games. Comparatively speaking Dinwiddie has given up 20 points or more in four games. The difference is Dinwiddie won three out of four of those games.

This should be a good game. I don't think Dinwiddie will lay the wood to Powhatan, but I do believe they will wear the Indians down in the second half. Home field advantage is huge. Give me the Generals by 14.
