i saw all of the construction going on Google Earth at this school. Has it been finished? Was it primarily for classroom space?

The construction was finalized in time for the start of the 14-15 school year. The entire interior was renovated and an auditorium/cafeteria was added. The old cafeteria was redesigned as classrooms. It looks like a brand new school with the exception of the gym which did get new lighting, a couple coats of paint, and a new floor finish. Nothing was done with the exterior playing fields/lighting.
Thanks, and good deal. I'm glad you got that much. A lot of localities would love to have improvements like that. My best wishes for another great football season this year.

As nice as the auditorium is (seats 800 I think), a lot of people were and still are upset with spending money to build it. Many fell that that money could of went to building a bigger gym and/or upgrade things around the football field. I know the track, seating, lighting and bathrooms were to be in the construction but all got cut out. Put money in something that will make you money. Besides a handful of gospel concerts, and a few meetings the auditorium is just there looking pretty while the football area gets talked about every post season. I'm thankful that the rest of the school got fixed up. So I guess all is not bad.
Glad Essex got a proper performance space for the school system's performing arts programs. Maybe they can grow into something the Essex community can be proud of now that they have a respectable place to perform. You get out what you put in!
