Now let's talk VHSL Ratings and the Playoff Picture…

There are 8 teams from the Richmond Region that play in 3A and of those eight schools, 6 would make the playoffs… The two that would not are George Wythe who moved from 25th to 24th this week and Thomas Jefferson who holds put at 22nd in the ratings.

Colonial Heights would travel to Armstrong in a #13 v. #4 game which would also be a rematch of an earlier game between the two in which Armstrong won of course.

Like last week Hopewell would beat at home only this week they fall from 7th to 8th but would still play the 10th seeded Skyline team.

Huguenot moved up from 15th to 14th in the ratings and would be on the road at James Monroe just as it looked last week, only this time they are 14th and 3rd seeds as opposed to 15th and 2nd seeds.

John Marshall moved up this week one spot from 17th to 16th which would put them in the playoffs but they would have the misfortune of playing the top seeded Loudon Valley Vikings…

Then there is Petersburg… This week they fall from 9th to 10th which would pit them against the 7th seeded John Champe Knights…

4A only sees three teams making the playoffs as of right now… Glen Allen continues to fall, this week from 19th to 20th. JR Tucker holds tight at 18th two spots out of the playoffs and Midlothian falls from 20th to 21st. The three that make the playoffs are no strangers to the playoffs in Dinwiddie, Hanover and Monacan.

Dinwiddie holds tight at 10th and would be on the road at #7 Booker T. Washington.

Hanover falls from 7th down to 11th which means no home game and on the road, they would be at #6 IC Norcom.

Monacan moves from 4th to 3rd and would certainly have a home playoff game against #14 Grafton.

In 5A North, Patrick Henry falls from 18th to 19th, three spots out of the playoffs. In 5A South, things continue to shuffle from week. Clover Hill and Lee-Davis swapped spots this week, Clover Hill to 12th, Lee-Davis to 13th and Deep Run rounds out the bottom at 14th for a second straight week. Matoaca inches closer to the playoffs moving from 11th to 9th while Godwin fell from 9th to 10th and Prince George fell out of the playoffs from 8th to 11th… That means there is a new team this week that would be in the playoffs…

Meadowbrook with their second win would make the big jump from 10th to 8th and would be in the playoffs, on the road at a team they lost to just a few weeks ago, top seeded Highland Springs! That's right, the Springers would have home field advantage as of right now in the playoffs.

Manchester moves from 4th to 3rd this week and that would pit them against the 6th seeded Atlee Raiders who held tight at 6th again this week.

LC Bird fell from 1st to 4th in the ratings for 5A-South pitting them against the 5th seeded Henrico Warriors who occupy the same seed they did last week.

That means in the 7 v. 2 seed matchup you would have Freeman Rebels holding at 7th on the road against Hermitage who moved up one spot this week.

Now for 6A…

The James River Rapids are still outside looking in… They moved one spot from 10th to 9th and they are knocking on the door of the playoffs. The 8th seed is currently occupied by Varina which would mean a road trip to top seeded CD Hylton, a team Varina knows all too well from playoff pasts… Cosby who had been the top seed fell to 2nd this week and would host 7th seeded Forest Park. The final Richmond Region team in would be Thomas Dale. The Knights would be on the road as a 5th seed to 4th seeded Colonial Forge.
