Rockbridge @ PM

Not open for further replies.
Not a lot I can say.... Congratulations to Rockbridge, they can throw the ball pretty well(when they have the time, if the QB has to move it's basically a busted play and they usually convert by just throwing it up deep and letting the receiver's "go get it", they CAN outrun the ball) QB will be 7-8 yards deep in the shotgun and they have TONS of speed on the outside.. DO NOT PLAY THEM 10-12 YARDS OFF ON THE CORNERS, THEY WILL WEAR THE BUBBLE SCREEN OUT AND ONE ON ONE with the receiver, you will most likely NOT make a tackle.. Their line/RUN GAME is HORRIBLE.. Not sure of the rushing yards yet but I would say they had less than 75 yards combined total..

Rockbridge Defense is weak, they are slow everywhere but the corners & safety.. If you run right into them they can/will tackle you, if you can get outside the tackle you're good but will have a tough time getting by the linebackers & corners, you will get 4-7 yards a pop.. Any team that runs a spread offense will eat them alive.. THEY HAVE ONE(1) PHYSICAL PLAYER (#45 STORES, LINEBACKER) HE DID NOT HURT US, WE HURT OURSELVES, but given the opportunity, he will come up and hit you.. HARD!!!

PM ran the ball well against the Wildcats.. We moved the ball at will but TURNOVERS will kill your momentum and is obvious by the score, IT DID!! Two(2)turnovers(fumbles)resulted in quick, short TD drives for the Wildcats.. The Blues were still in the game despite the 33-0 score at the half and then the "injury bug" showed up at Bobby Williams field.. QB out, Tackle out, Linebacker out, Corner(X2) out, and then just sheer exhaustion.. However, the Wildcats did not score in the 2nd half as the Blues held their own and somehow still managed to get pressure on the RB QB.. If he has to move he is TERRIBLE!!

PM's defense, well again, we need some work from the linebackers back but overall they did a good job with limited resources.. The Blues defense basically gave up too many "big plays" down field on what was essentially "busted plays".. But, they still got beat, end of story.
They are very young on the corners and at safety (due to injuries) but are as a squad VERY PHYSICAL and regardless, whichever eleven is on the field is going to come up and hit you...HARD!!! EVERY TIME!!

Overall, PM did not look NEARLY as bad as the score reflects.. Penalties, inexperience(at some key spots), injuries and lack of depth on both sides of the ball were and will be our enemy.. The Blue's are going to be okay and they will bounce back, it's just going to take a little time to heal up.. These kids are and always have been as tough as nails and it showed again last night..

PM's kids could have and most teams would have laid down and quit but they continued to fight, be physical and play football until the final seconds ticked off of the clock.. WIN OR LOSE, THEY NEVER GAVE IN, THEY NEVER GAVE UP BECAUSE THEY ARE THE FIGHTING BLUES!!!

Not what I saw. RC was just to physical and too fast for PM. RC came out injury free but PM lost several players during the game. The QB picked PM apart and threw the ball very accurate when on the move. PM's offensive line controlled the line of scrimmage and #5 ran well. The fumbles hurt PM bad and penalties hurt both teams bad. PM will win 7 or 8 games this year so they are a good team. They will need to pass more and probably will when QB #9 comes back. PM won't beat Buffalo Gap next week but will have a chance to win the rest of their games. RC could win anywhere from 5 to 8 games this year so it looks like Poston has things headed in the right direction.

Parry McCluer has problems that some don't want to admit. Yes they have a line that is big, a couple fast rbs, a great lb. PM needs discipline! Say what you want. IF healthy I say IF, PM walks the dog on Rockbridge. Need to take a look at all the kids acting hurt. Some will get mad ok whatever. You make the score PM 33 RC 0, how many PM players are hurt then? My point exactly. Some of the kids and COACHES don't have the desire to be there. I seen two coaches last night almost get into a fist fight on the sideline! Seen one kid take his pads off in the 3rd qtr and quit. A senior!! Now granted I know there were a couple injuries that were obvious especially the QB and the TE that left in the ambulance. But play after play after play people going down that's one of two things either those kids aren't in shape or they don't have the heart to win. PM has some talent, major talent in certain positions. The QB is very good but went down with injury. The other rb was out pretty much entire game he starts both ways. The fb/lb just played defense. The big tackle could "barely walk" but after the game was getting around fine. Young men you need to step up to the plate. The big te went down too. Kudos to the young qb Painter who came in and played a great game, Dawson is a beast was dragging defenders down the field he had 170 yards rushing, the line Fisher, Mason played great but PM needs some leadership and it's not going to get done by itself. Coaching is a big question mark especially the play calling once again. PM listen to me. You have been running the same plays for 77 years now, they know what's coming and who's getting the ball. Everyone there knows!! Every game. Mix it up. Develop players in practice in scrimmages. Stop playing the cb 12 yards off the ball the defensive coordinator needs to be relieved asap beause obviously he hasn't one clue! Not sure who it is but offensive and defensive coordinator needs to go. Too much talent to be same play same play same play. Come on already!!!!!!!!

I agree with the majority of what you have said, which is pretty much the same as I said.. IMO, I DO NOT believe that RC was the more physical team.. Stevie Wonder could have picked apart our def. backfield!!

I dont follow PM more than just them being in the vicinity of SD. But this is a ridiculous post. Questioning everyone's heart after 1 game. The way you laid out this message, seems like you would be part of problem. And I am sure that PM goes in today and gets rid of the OC and DC, that will really help. You see, in the game of football (or anything) you have this thing called PREPARATION. So what you are expecting is for them to get rid of these guys, find others to do the job, and change what they are running in 6 days before the next game. That is putting these KIDS in a position to fail.

And of course you contradict yourself in this rant. IF they were healthy they would have walked the dog. So which is the problem, health or these terrible coaches or the KIDS you want to degrade

Yes I did question some of the players heart. No I didn't degrade the coaches I just stated the obvious! Take Cleveland for example if LeBron James goes down so does the heart of the team, it comes natural. A well coached team wouldn't let that happen! When you sit and watch the same plays ran repeatedly over and over it gets old. Playing top notch players who have noted injuries in a meaningless scrimmage is once again poor coaching. What I mean to say and how it came out might be different to you and me. PM fans/alumni will understand exactly what I mean without a doubt. I say this again the OC and DC needs to be replaced for this team to excel the way they are capable of doing! If the truth hurts oh well get a band aid. I've "only" been around this area on and off all my life and I'm 51 years old. You have players walking off the field after 4 plays looking like they just had a 12 round fight with Cassius Clay. Come on. That's coaching 100%! I think Mark Wheeler was the right man for the job but I also believe he needs to make some changes to his staff before their inability to coach makes him look like a fool. PM has only lost 7 games in 4 years to my best sources and last night was the most unprepared uncoached undisciplined out of shape team I have seen by far bar none! Now you tell me who's fault that is? I know. Time to punt there's the punter on the sideline talking not paying a bit of attention. Coaching. Players running on and off the field like chicken with their heads cut off getting penalties. Coaching. Knowing your facing a team that is going to throw it 40 times a game but plays 2nd and 3rd string dbs 12 yards off the ball. Coaching. A lot of problems up on that hill and it seems like no one has the cahunas to stand up and address them and/or attempt to fix them. So yeah I do have a problem. Many many people would give anything to be up on that hill coaching those boys because it's a way of life but when everything is ran on a buddy system they don't have a chance. PM isn't hungry for it they don't want it. Still hungover on 2 years ago when they had a state championship caliber team but lost to Altavista............Coaching.

I didn't even say you were degrading the coaches, I said KIDS, which you were. They are minors, maybe you should give them a break. And you just said I didnt degrade the coaches, and go in on a rant DEGRADING the coaches. You see, I don't know if you know what that means, but you can certainly be degrading while telling the truth.

And you summed up everything with the last part of your statement. Lots of people want to coach... So what you are saying is lots of people (obviously including you) think they can do a better job, you just wont get a chance because of buddy buddy system. Well I'll tell you what, I know a few folks from PM and they coached so if you want I can talk to them and make sure your coaching resume gets to the higher ups, I am sure you would do much better than losing less than 2 games a year.

See there are those that coach, and then the ones who think they know it all and complain. BIG difference, and we obviously which side your on

Opinions vary. Won't argue with stupidity

Ok genius, just from your words on here, I may be quite a bit younger than you but I know, and EVERYONE on here that has seen me post on here for years knows I know more about this game than you ever will. But you just keep thinking you know everything. I know I don't know everything, but you can do so much better, so please get me that resume and I will make sure PM gets it

Thanks for the input TR last nights games is about as screwed up as your life has been. But yet you know more than coaches and like bashing high school kids! I bet your a great role model to have as a coach. Keep up the great work.

It's funny you say that. I'm highly recommended by Plogger and Rocky at raro as well with south Augusta coaches. I coached with Booster back in the day as well as Charlie in Buena Vista so yes I am well respected in the area. Unfortunately with my position I cannot put my name on here. Just speaking the obvious. Don't want to see it, block me or unsubscribe.

There is a HUGE difference in “speaking the obvious” and what you were saying. These are KIDS, any KID can have a bad evening and whether they are or not can think they are hurt. You shouldn’t talk bad about a KID. And if you coached as you say, I don’t know you so I will believe you, then you should know not to speak of them as you did. To call for their jobs after ONE GAME? And I certainly can’t understand how you don’t realize how you contradicted yourself. First if they would have been healthy they would have walked the dog, then it was kids quitting, then it was the terrible coaching. You do realize they if they would have walked the dog if healthy then the coaches must have done something right. And then you bring up they have lost 7 games in 4 years, so the coaching is THAT terrible? Man, to have less than 2 losses per year, that is just horrendous. It is 1 game that the team lost, and maybe Rockbridge will be good. Also, look at 1A-4A last year, 3 of those teams had losses during the season.

You or anyone else has every right to have their opinion, but for someone to talk so badly about everything, maybe you should voice your opinion to the coaches and players. Maybe you can do better and they can hire you next year, heck since the OC and DC should be gone NOW, maybe you can take over both positions, or at least one of them and one of your buddies the other. But if you actually think that them being gone at this point in time will help the kids, you are sadly mistaken. Like you said they have been running the same thing for 77 years, with that comes a familiarity and repetition to be able to do it. With a new offense and/or defense, you have to have time to learn and get in sync with it, time a team doesnt have in the middle of season.

As for block me or unsubscribe, as must offense that I take with what you said, and I am sure others as well, whether they would say it or not, you are not anywhere close to worst I have seen on here, and I certainly am not going to unsubscribe because someone with 10 posts or whatever you have do that with my 2500 or whatever it is.

You just keep doing your thing and talk bad about everyone all you want, you just aren’t going to make yourself look good, especially with whatever position it is you say you have. With that I say good luck to you and your team the rest of the season. God bless

You said , running the same plays over and over gets old . Not in Greenville . Try running a hand full of plays and run them to perfection ! Works well for the Red Team !Works so well PM will not play Riverheads .

Wait, so PM was 33-0 at one point but was "still in the game"? And they also should've "walked the dog" on Rockbridge?

You PM guy's logic confuses me.

Xcross it work well when you run the same plays against 1a opponents and you are a 2a school an pm got their butt kicked you are not down by 33 and still in the game
If you start with something that works you won't be down by 33 ! Ask your AD why they choose to play teams 100 miles past Riverheads witch is only 30 miles up the road .

We don't play Riverheads because it would be like playing the New England Patriots, the Packers or maybe even the Steelers.. YOU GUYS ARE JUST WAAY TOO GOOD, THE TALENT IS JUST UN-MEASURABLE!!

No way a local team could ever compete with that program so we (the AD) chooses to travel upwards of one hundred miles or better to play teams more like the Browns, the Bears and the Redskins.. Geez, I'm surprised that PM will even travel north on the Interstate through Greenville to even play other teams..

Let it be known, if ya don't already that the Gladiators of Greenville are unstoppable!! Even though they are a 2A School pretending to be a 1A and still choose to put Bath County (barely 1A) on their schedule.. STFU!!!!!!

@pioneerstats, that argument is ridiculous since we do run those same plays against our district opponents who are mostly 2A and win more than we lose. Considering that every year we hear this same thing, just look at the stats and include the brief 2A stint and we stack up with anyone in 1A or 2A. We didn't win it all in 2A for sure but we represented ourselves pretty well there also. And those years we were the smallest or second smallest 2A school but still had decent playoff runs so crawl back in your hole.

Good luck to PM, I hope they get the ship pointed in the right direction. I am certain they will get things straight if allowed to.

At this point , , it's not looking good for the Blues . Doubt they make the playoffs ! But it's a long season and a few teams may forfeit and they could get in . lol

Hey guys, have your disagreements, even as strong as they are. But stop the name calling right now.

And, no more of the abbreviations or innuendoes for inappropriate language.

DinwiddieProud, I mean no disrespect to you Sir, or the many others on this forum.. And as for the rules which govern this site I am also fully aware of the parameters however, I am also " Old School" and if i it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck well, then it's a duck!! The same goes for those of which whom chose to be a D!%K!!! My apologies to you and the many others on this forum but I do as they say, "call 'em like I see 'em"....

I do not not sit in judgement of you, or any other poster. And it does not matter who said what, first or second. I only remind everyone of what the rules are. And they will be enforced if they are violated.

And more importantly, I remind everyone, that what you say, the way you say it, and the way you react to other posters, is a direct reflection of the school and team you support and represent.

Come on dude, RCHS scored on their first 5 possessions. PM made too many mistakes to have a chance to win. PM has been very successful doing what they do so they gonna keep doing that. They are not going to beat a superior team doing that but they will have a successful year. I know many people in BV thought they would have a chance to win Friday but most in the county that had seen RC scrimmage knew RC was the better team this year. PM got beat by a better team. It happens. Move on to the next game and try to improve in areas you need to improve on. You act as if this was a huge upset or something. It was not. If they play 10 times, RC wins 8-10 times, as they should considering the school sizes. The coaches at PM do a fine job. You will see at the end of the year when they are 8-2 or 7-3.

It's not that hard to see a "fan" questioning heart. They just don't want to admit the other flaws their team has. RC and PM wasn't even competitive. All those 4.4 guys in the backfield and you can't score....PM has been blown up for a couple years now. Come back down to reality, you may be good, but not as good as the fans would like to believe.

Stop with trying to measure "heart". Grow up. Watch film and adjust. Let's be adults.

Aaannnddd there he is forum fans,GatorBait1988 with more football douchery.. For High School football's sake, PLEASE, get off of the 4.4 or whatever it is that has your girdle in a tizzy and move on.. Geez, I thought we had put that baby to sleep quite some time ago... HELLO, PM DOES NOT AND HAS NOT HAD A 4.4 BACK ON THE ROSTER SINCE WHO KNOWS WHEN!!! There are a couple of legit 4.4, 4.5 kids on the roster, NOT NECESSARILY A "RUNNING BACK"... OR DO WE???

You don't. IF you do have a legit 4.4 kid and you can't score for 3 quarters in high school football.....there's something VERY wrong. Best of luck the rest of the season, hopefully you guys will be more competitive in games the rest of the year.

It appears that I was spot on.. RC had 17 rushes, 75 yards!! I'm just saying that RC's O line is not that good.. They are small, not physical and fairly weak...THEY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RUN THE FOOTBALL.. But then again, they may not have to... If they can throw the football with the same success the did vs PM they will be fine, I just don't know that they can/will against better passing defenses.. They have speed(receivers) and 3rd year starter at QB #7,BR can throw the ball well and has a good understanding of their system.. He see's/reads the field/coverage well and can hurt you if he has the time.. Running back #45, not much of a blocker, not real fast, runs hard and will hit you if he has space. If he can get going he is a handful to bring down.. The Blues had 2 sacks and at least 2 tackles for loss, looking at the film it may have been a couple more or just simply no gain...

I have watched the film, RC's D-line is not much better.. They will continue to struggle to stop the run!!
They have one decent linebacker, #45 and he'll come up and hit you... Corners and safety's are pretty good, really fast... They can close on you fast but are small and not very physical...

Again, Congratulations to RCHS on the win and best of luck to them on the rest of the season and hoping they stay injury free..

17 rushes for 75 yards = 4.4 yds. per rush. Dawson rushed 40 times for 168. That = 4.2 yds. per rush. RCHS at least ran it as well as PM. RCHS is not going to run the ball a lot this year but when they do and they can average 4.4 yds. per rush then I think they will take it. The line protected the QB really well.

Who honestly cares. They dismantled PM. Move on.

But how? I've read Rockbridge was weak on the offensive line and not much better on the defensive line. They have no run game. How in the world could they be up 33 points on perennial power PM?

Yea, they averaged 4.4 yds. per rush.. vs.PM... THEY WILL NOT average SQUAT running the ball this season.. IF.. (IF) they had to run the ball against PM, (which I acknowledge they did not) they may not have scored at all!!! Best case scenario for the Wildcats is that they stay healthy,(and I hope they do) especially the QB and the receivers... It would be nice to see the "Cross County Kids" be successful.. Now, according to GatorBait1988, I shall "Move On"...
