Not a lot I can say.... Congratulations to Rockbridge, they can throw the ball pretty well(when they have the time, if the QB has to move it's basically a busted play and they usually convert by just throwing it up deep and letting the receiver's "go get it", they CAN outrun the ball) QB will be 7-8 yards deep in the shotgun and they have TONS of speed on the outside.. DO NOT PLAY THEM 10-12 YARDS OFF ON THE CORNERS, THEY WILL WEAR THE BUBBLE SCREEN OUT AND ONE ON ONE with the receiver, you will most likely NOT make a tackle.. Their line/RUN GAME is HORRIBLE.. Not sure of the rushing yards yet but I would say they had less than 75 yards combined total..
Rockbridge Defense is weak, they are slow everywhere but the corners & safety.. If you run right into them they can/will tackle you, if you can get outside the tackle you're good but will have a tough time getting by the linebackers & corners, you will get 4-7 yards a pop.. Any team that runs a spread offense will eat them alive.. THEY HAVE ONE(1) PHYSICAL PLAYER (#45 STORES, LINEBACKER) HE DID NOT HURT US, WE HURT OURSELVES, but given the opportunity, he will come up and hit you.. HARD!!!
PM ran the ball well against the Wildcats.. We moved the ball at will but TURNOVERS will kill your momentum and is obvious by the score, IT DID!! Two(2)turnovers(fumbles)resulted in quick, short TD drives for the Wildcats.. The Blues were still in the game despite the 33-0 score at the half and then the "injury bug" showed up at Bobby Williams field.. QB out, Tackle out, Linebacker out, Corner(X2) out, and then just sheer exhaustion.. However, the Wildcats did not score in the 2nd half as the Blues held their own and somehow still managed to get pressure on the RB QB.. If he has to move he is TERRIBLE!!
PM's defense, well again, we need some work from the linebackers back but overall they did a good job with limited resources.. The Blues defense basically gave up too many "big plays" down field on what was essentially "busted plays".. But, they still got beat, end of story.
They are very young on the corners and at safety (due to injuries) but are as a squad VERY PHYSICAL and regardless, whichever eleven is on the field is going to come up and hit you...HARD!!! EVERY TIME!!
Overall, PM did not look NEARLY as bad as the score reflects.. Penalties, inexperience(at some key spots), injuries and lack of depth on both sides of the ball were and will be our enemy.. The Blue's are going to be okay and they will bounce back, it's just going to take a little time to heal up.. These kids are and always have been as tough as nails and it showed again last night..
PM's kids could have and most teams would have laid down and quit but they continued to fight, be physical and play football until the final seconds ticked off of the clock.. WIN OR LOSE, THEY NEVER GAVE IN, THEY NEVER GAVE UP BECAUSE THEY ARE THE FIGHTING BLUES!!!
