We should always expect the unexpected with high school sports. Take Wilson/Riverheads for example. Last night the Gladiators played probably their most complete game of the season as they whitewashed Wilson 9-0. But tonight at the Hive, the Hornets returned the favor as mentioned above, as they came out on top 6-1.

They only outhit their visitors 6-4, but Riverheads was done in by four costly errors, most of which led directly to Wilson runs. The big inning for the Hornets was the bottom of the fourth, when they scored four runs to turn a 2-0 game into a 6-0 rout. Riverheads then picked up one in the top of the sixth to avoid the shutout.

As implied in Diamond Dude's post, the biggest victor tonight might have been East Rock. Although there are still two weeks left in the regular season, the Eagles would now appear to have the number one seed for Conference 36 all but sewn up. Riverheads and Wilson may be on a collision course for a rubber match in the Conference semis.
