Who are some teams that you feel might not be getting some hype they deserve. And could make a push late and mayne win a region? For me I've got a few.

Region D

I have Grundy as the favorite right now.

My sleepers are PH and Chilhowie I think both can win D more so Chilhowie.

Region C

I have GW as the favorite right now with Galax being 1A to GWs 1.

My sleepers are PM, Covington and Narrows. PM had a really bad showing in week 1 to a team many feel is DOWN! And this week they BG who can give them fits if they show up. Covington is 0-1 and imo soon to be 0-2 but if the ball bounces right the can end the season 8-2 or 7-3 they are well coached so time will tell. And Narrows has a seriously legitimate chance at 7-3 and possibly 9-1 of they can get past PM and Covington. I do feel all 3 will struggle with the top 2 teams in Galax and GW but again anything can happen under the Friday Night Lights.

This is my take what's your's?

PM and Covington both have to come to Ragsdale, so that's a plus. Still an awful lot to ask to knock both of them off. Realistically hoping for a split there. I'll go 8-2 with 7-3 being possible. Still a great deal of football between now and then though. All that is contingent on everyone staying healthy and avoiding the injury bug unlike toward the end of last season.

PM is not going to beat Buffalo Gap but probably will win the rest of their games. William Campbell may cause them some problems but I don't see Narrows or Covington giving them much trouble. RCHS is not down this year. They may not be a top tier team in 3a but certainly are better than they have been in the last 4 years. I agree that GW and Galax are the top 2 in region C but PM can play with both of them.

I would say they are down they are at the bottom of 3A. They are the 46th ranked team in 3A out of 48. Regardless they are still a 3A team but still nowhere near the top. And I agree I don't think they will beat BG.

Well I don't know how anyone can say one way or another if a team is up or down at this point. They have played 1 game. There are lots of examples from recent memory of a team supposedly being "down" and not being and vice versa. And while there are certainly exceptions, bigger schools are more likely to win over a smaller school. Especially when you get away from the top tier teams in each classification. Lets assume Rockbridge wasn't a fluke, but atleast a decent team (lets just for assumption give them a 5-5 record). Who would you chose between these teams last year: A higher up finisher in 2A Buffalo Gap or middle of the road 4A teams Louisa or Charlottesville? Just one example off top of my head.

By me saying they are down I'm saying that they are currently the 46th ranked 3A team out of 48. It has nothing to do with the games played it simply has to do with there current standing. They may very well win all 10 games it is possible. But to be 46th out of 48 I would say that's down. And I would always chose the team that has the better season. That's in no way downing the other team because competition tends to be harder at higher levels. Basically what I'm saying is if RB turns out to be what they are expected to be. Which is very bottom of the barrel of 3A this will end up being a horrible loss. That doesn't mean PM is doomed they should win 8 games this year. And could make noise later in the season. But if they play anything like they did in game 1 for the remainder of the season then it could be a very long season.

Blaster, I agree that PH and Chilhowie may be sleepers in Region D. PH won their first game, while
Chilhowie lost. I don't know that much about PH, but they apparently have a good team.

Chilhowie is still young. They started 9 Jr's, with 2 Sr's., and it showed. CHS needs to improve
In several areas. Pass blocking. The QB was under constant pressure, running for dear life to
His right or left and trying to find an open target. Penalties. Several holding penalties that
Absolutely hurt their drives or momentum. Turnovers. You can Not give the other team good
Field position, and expect to win. Cramps. This one I find hard to believe, but about 4-5 players
Went out at critical times because of cramps. It was not that hot folks. Last but not least, giving
Up big yardage on 3rd down. This has been a problem for at least 3 years on defense. CHS will
Hold a team for 2 downs. If the other team need 8 yards, they will pick up 9 yards for a first down.

This is not being critical of any players; they played hard no doubt about that. If they get just a few
Of these concerns solved, Then you will see a different team. Do they have the size, skill, depth,
Coaching, and fan support? Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes and Yes. Enough said. Go Warriors!

P.S. Chilhowie's middle school program continues to produce........They put up 52 points
On Marion yesterday.

GW had the same cramping problem against Radford. Our #3 WR amd our 4th year starting C both went out not 2 mins apart. And we had several other players who started to cramp and Radford had some to.

What I am saying is that right now nobody knows what a team should be ranked. If pm ends up with a good record and rb doesn't then yes it would be considered a bad loss. But even so, rb was the better team that night. And blaster I will certainly disagree with you on who should be better between the example. I'll use my own team as an example: a 4a team with the same record or slightly worse is much more impressive than that SD. When a 5-5 Louisa plays a tough schedule and has those losses to playoff teams and wins over playoff teams, that is certainly more impressive than an 8-2 Buffalo Gap. A record is relative to your competition, and if the competition is greater, that shows.

I will always pick my team no matter who they play, but honestly a 10-0 SD is not going to be favorite over an 8-2 Amherst team

Oh that I will agree if you're record is 5-5 6-4 against killer competition then that is ok. I mean I have Hurley more crap than almost anyone last year over schedule. So I see you're point 100%

GW seems to be pretty safe in Region C, though of course anything can happen. Covington has talent and speed at key positions, but will probably be held back by inexperience and depth issues. I also haven't ruled out PM. It was just one game and against a 3A school heading in the right direction. Narrows does look to be coming along. Good for them.

I know several of the teams mentioned need to find another outlet for gaining yard or the horses will be beaten into the ground by post season. Several schools in 2A have the same problem as well. Sure that one stud can average you 5-7 a carry, but give them a break on occasion. Let the Sophomore get you 1 or 2; heck let him get you nothing for a couple plays a drive. Big Picture wise it will pay off.

You sure did Blaster. Hurley, a school with an enrolement of 176 trying to battle it out with all those small schools just wasn't fair.

The Narz-Covington-PM series should be a good one. I can see them all going 1-1 against each other and sharing the Pioneer title.

Some folks must have done a little reading. Sounds like they got the lead out of their Pants this week and decided to play a little football. Ain't it simple what a little ars choosing will do?

CHS 36 JI Burton 00 Go Warriors!
