Someone finally figured out a way to stop John Marshall

What school would they consolidate into? Or would it be an open enrollment to Thomas Jefferson, Huguenot, George Wythe, or Armstrong?

John Marshall and Thomas Jefferson are both over 125 years old.
That means lots of well healed alumni in high places.
Lots of luck with that Jonathan
You may have committed political suicide.
It has been a open secret that both schools are half full and should have been combined decades ago.
no one tho have the balls to do it.
However from the pure entertainment value, I am looking forward to this.
Those familiar with the RPS know this was tried back in the 1980's and lasted as long as it took to get those folk out of office.

I personally would not mind a Jefferson-Marshall High School. Some folk think a downtown high school would be part of the downtown renovation plan.

Huguenot and Wythe are bursting at the seams and a new Wythe was just approved. Armstrong has all of East End and was consolidated with JFK. There is still bad blood over that. The Armstrong alums strong armed the board and would not share their name with the JFK folk.

Would mean the aau coach/team moves to another classification and ruins that division. Good for 2a, but not the division they end up in.
the state survived the consolidation of the three Alexandria high schools so they would survive this.

Just from a historical standpoint, it would be funny if there was a Jefferson-Marshall high school. Although related, they were not big fans of each other's views politically.

Why not redraw the schools boundaries so they schools are evenly balanced.
The one gentleman who made the proposal did not want an even balance of 40% empty schools, he wanted to move kids from the less occupied schools to the higher occupied schools so they would not need to operate and maintain so many schools if the overall population did not warrant it. Problem is, nobody wants it to be their school shut down.

that would mean that children south of the river where most of the growth is would have to be bused to Northside west end and east end to create balance, That is not gonna happen. been there and done that.
