Sherando certainly played some exciting games in the post season last spring on their way to the school's first state championship in baseball. The regular season, though, was filled with few challenges. Someone recently told me that the Warriors have went out and got some pretty good opponents on the schedule for the spring of '14. Cudos for Sherando to add a home-and-home with Potomac Falls and Broadway, plus at least one game with Broad Run. The schedule is not up on the school site as yet (my source is pretty reliable, though), but he also told me the Warriors are finally dropping Brentsville. I know I pick on the Tigers from time to time, but really in all fairness, Brentsville has not been the same in many sports since Patriot opened about two miles away a couple years back. Patriot is Class 6A and has been good in a lot of sports, so I guess that school is getting the athletes in Nokesville these days.

Spring camp opens in about four weeks and soon the likes of Smallwood, Entsminger, and Whitacre will try and help Sherando to a repeat, this time in Class 4A. Good luck to the Tribe this season!

I think it is good also, A couple of years ago the Warriors were joked at about taking on Martinsburg in Football to toughen up there schedule. Although they haven't beaten them yet, It has worked out and made them a better team, as three years later they made it to the State Championship game. Good Job Pepper, Bodi, the program is getting better every year, just like the Football team.

I had a local wrestling coach tell me the other night that Pepper has a chance to win 4A in wrestling this year with all the depth the Warriors have on the mat. Wouldn't that be something if it came off, two state championships (the first in both baseball and wrestling) in a span of nine months?

Pep is one of the school's original coaches, leading both the baseball and wrestling since Sherando opened in 1993.

Talk about paying your dues!!

Yes they have a chance, and yes they have about 5 or 6 studs on the team, about 3 or 4 average wrestlers, and a couple that should find a new career. That being said Christiansburg is down this year, and a few 3A teams will be wrestling there own state tournament this year with the new structure, it is very possible. I see sherando with a possible three State Champions this year, the rest of the team will have to wrestle really well and score a lot of points in the consulations for the Warriors to win it. It's between Eastern View and Sherando imo. Pepper is a great a coach, and the wrestlers love him, thats why the warriors are pretty consistently good, this year the stars have alligned a little, the top three are serious studs and score a lot of points for the team. I am very happy for Pepper, and proud to be his friend. He deserves all the credit for his hard work. A huge amount of hours goes into coaching wrestling.

Have to cerrect myself, just found out Skyline beat Eastern View last night in a duel match considerably, it would have to be a South Region team to stop the Warriors now I think.
