State championship: set up this year

There's nothing that can be done about it. As long as they have an address with the required zone, they are eligible. It's a loop hole that every school benefits from. I would willing to bet that every school in VHSL has at least one player that doesn't physically reside within the attendance zone of the school they are playing for. Not saying it's ok but it's nothing that can really be done about it.
Anyone can certainly understand that but they have many. They should dominate every year then, just not fair

I'm sorry but with Frank Rocco coaching him you won't see a huge difference. Only difference is Lane is much faster.
That's a pretty big difference though. The x-factor for LCA is when they run spread formations and call designed Qb runs for Lane. McDaniel is a capable runner but I wouldn't describe him as fast. Would LCA be good next year if McDaniel transferred there? Absolutely. But they would not be state championship contender good IMO. At least not without the addition of s few other transfers.

I thought the rule was you had to physically move and reside in that new resident not just pay rent for empty space
Technically that is the rule but there isn't anyone to do physical address checks. It's up to the AD at each school to make sure their athletes are eligible. No AD has the time or desire to physically check each athlete's' physical place of residence.

I agree completely. The problem is ADs do not want to start playing the blame game. They do not want to start throwing stones from glass houses. It also not like the LCA AD is going to report on the head football coach considering he wears both hats.

No way to enforce that. People with legal residence can’t be forced to spend time anywhere. Come on guys, this is obvious.

If they have a secondary residence then they’re eligible. I don’t see the issue with it

Exactly if family members want to do that then have at it. A lot of useless energy spent worrying about LCA and transfers. It is what it is. The only school that should have a gripe is HHS because a kid can transfer and be immediately eligible.

It’s ironic they want parity and equality amongst public school sports but don’t even want that in terms of public school educations.
