Wise County Central’s girls basketball team won another tournament title and Robin Dotson reached a milestone.
In other words, it was just business as usual for the Warriors.
Brook Porter led a balanced attack with 13 points as Central claimed a 43-38 win over Annapolis Area Christian of Maryland on Wednesday in the championship game of the KSA Pre-Holiday Classic in Orlando, Florida.
It was the 600th career victory for Dotson.
Central (8-0) had already won the Powell Valley National Bank Tip-Off Classic and the defending VHSL 2A state champs added another memento for the trophy case on Wednesday.
AAC (8-2) did not have a player score in double digits.
Richlands 56, (1A) Twin Valley 28
Hayleigh Whited scored 15 points and hauled down seven boards as Richlands rolled to a win in the semifinals of the Hoopalachia Hardwood Classic.
Ericah Burton added 20 points for the Blue Tornado (5-2), winners of four straight. Ginger Short added 10 rebounds for the Blues.
Twin Valley committed 19 turnovers.
Boys:
Richlands 76, Tazewell 61
Cade Berry and Caleb Horn each scored 14 points as Richlands beat rival Tazewell in the Hoopalachia Hardwood Classic and remained unbeaten.
Richlands outscored Tazewell 24-8 in the second quarter to put the game away.
Jamir Blevins was the top scorer for Tazewell with 15 points.
(1A) Eastside 78, Lee High 35
Nick Livingston provided a spark for Eastside with 10 points, four steals and four steals as the Spartans lit up Lee High.
Luke Lawson (18 points, 10 rebounds), Ethan Powers (11 points) and Colyn Sturgill (10 points, eight rebounds) also helped Eastside improve to 4-1.
The Spartans play Union on Friday in a marquee game between two of Southwest Virginia’s best teams.
