I always enjoy playing new faces and see how their fans travel and participate in the playoffs. I wanted to see from around the region who you guys enjoyed either home or away.

For me Giles played Riverheads for the first time I believe just a few years ago. Those fans were loud and passionate about their football and traveled very very well. Had a chance to speak to a few and actually shook some hands. There were a lot of similarities between Giles and Riverheads. They had a great team and great tradition and was very evident the way they handled themselves before and after the game. Hope to see those guys again someday. Wouldn't mind traveling there and show the same support and respect that they did when they came to Giles.

For me it was Richlands and Goochland! Two fan bases that I really have a lot of respect for.

Now on the other end, Glenvar while they had an amazing crowd, I have watched the video on YouTube from our game against them several times, and you hear fans yelling things like "Just break his neck" "Take him out of the game" as our RB is driving us down the field
Of course I'm sure every school has those! They were very loud and sure helped create a great environment in Salem. We had that place packed between the two of us!

The Brunswick crowd also really disappointed last year. They didn't travel at all. I was told that they are a basketball school and football doesn't really matter to them

Union fans can be lame at time sand not make enough noise, but I think the teams from outside SWVA will be impressed in how well balanced the Bears squad is.

I agree with Trevor, Richlands and Goochland. I'd love to make the trip for a Richlands home game.

Also, not a knock on Glenvar, in that venue it was hard to get the same vibe.

Giles was an awesome atmosphere even though it was the coldest I have been in my life, lol. Jealous of the horn, but really enjoyed the game. Lots of respect for what they do and how they do it. Good luck.

giles was a great atmosphere a couple of years ago, and yes it was very very cold, I think walmart sold every winter item they had that day, richlands had some great fans last year at Wilson, Goochland fans was great a few years back at rhs, and glenvar had a great following last year in the championship game, as for riverheads fans they support there team really well, I am a rhs fan and at a lot of away games we have more fans than the home team. GO BIG RED

I'm a Giles grad, but I live in Staunton. I can't make it to every Giles game, but I do enjoy watching Buffalo Gap and Riverheads most Friday nights. Both schools are very similar to Giles with their rabid fan bases and blue collar, smashmouth style of play. There are times at Greenville I feel like I'm in Pearisburg.

I'm going to have to bring up a team that the Magna Vista Warriors didn't play in a playoff game, Bassett Bengals. Last year MV was playing for a state title in Lynchburg and the Bengal fans chartered a few buses to come and cheer their fellow piedmont district members on in the game! Man that says alot about character! I met some Patrick County fans up there as well! But for a district rival team to do that says alot of the Henry County area community and it's school support!
I guess Bassett said if we can't beat em, we'll join em lol..I know Gretna has been down the last 3 years but if any team deserves the respect, it's the Hawks. From Vic Hall to Rosser, this team put out year in and year out. Fan base supported them like no other. "Harder harder hit em again, hit em again". I've seen some of the best games ever and some great players with Gretna on the field.

You should have been at the two meetings before! Boy what an atmosphere those two games were. Especially the playoff game

Once watched a PV vs Appalachia game...Appalachia won...lost in playoffs...PV went on to win state....Appalachia folks made shirts that said "you may have won state but you didn't win the lonesome pine"...gotta love that kind of rivalry....the teams I respect are the ones that have fans that stick it out till the end....when your team loses you should still stick by them...seen lots of fellow spartans leave the stands....a lot stay too...everyone should stay....just the right thing to do

They were good games but the Hive does not hold a candle to the Hay Field, I mean Coliseum in G-vile. And as mentioned above, you may have been runner up in the state but you didn't beat the Red Team last year. I just couldn't resist.

And you may have been the state champ in 2007 but you couldn't beat the Hornets ;)

If we are comparing facilities Geimen field is hands down the winner over that hay field in Greenville!
I've always been a fan of the fireworks and fire trucks though!

You just have to root for a team like Arcadia. If the numbers I found are correct, they have won only 27 of their last 120 games. No record of them ever having won a playoff game.

And I'm admittedly a huge lover of the Eastern Shore. I have a long history over there and it is my second favorite place in all of Virginia. I'm just so glad the kids got to experience a playoff game. And, they were treated so graciously by the good folks in the Berryville area.

Hey Clarke, snap a few pictures of the field and stands Friday night, and text them to me if you can, please. I want to see if it jogs a distant memory of a long ago visit I made there. Thanks!

Haha, I figured I could get you within an hour.

Now the ugly high dollar field you have is atrocious. Turns that golden brown about halfway before the regular season ends. Seating is a push and as for concessions, we easily take that point. You do have a nice field house so I will give you that one. We win 2-1-1, it's simple. Now as for the show, we have the intro wrapped up. Your band is better so they cancel out. Yep, come out on top as usual.

Jokes aside, enjoy the Giles/Glenvar game though man.

Hey the field works out for us! Turns golden brown and when they paint the field lines green lord it's a beautiful sight! Don't hate on our Bermuda lol

I'm hoping they don't see me in my hornet gear and beat me up! Lol

Dinwiddie, if "distant memory" is twenty years ago or more, then the stadium today won't jog your memory. We played at Johnson-Williams Middle School through the fall of 1995 before playing games at the current Wilbur Feltner Stadium. After the 1995 season, Clarke did not make the playoffs for roughly ten years. If distant memory means within the last twenty years, then we can get you some pictures. Just let me know!
