2019 season makes it 10 years since my boys won their 1st State Football Championship. We’ve had some great runs during those 10 years with 3 State Runner-Up finishes and 3 State Semi appearances. I believe that 2009 team was the most decorated team in school history when it came to all district, all region and all state. After getting beat by Gretna in the 2008 State Semi 45-40 (one of the best games I’ve seen), the returning Trojans came back the following year on a mission. So this highlight video is to honor the 2009 team. Enjoy. P.S. this video was copied from a Lyn Garner (QB for 2009) post.

That was an excellent video. Too bad Pastor Larry wasn't around the program then. Just think of the video he could've put together from that season!! Lots of excellent players on that team. All deserving of their accolades. I wonder where some of those still photos came from??? LOL

Lol. I have a good idea where the stills came from. Lol. I’ve always thought all these years that Pastor Larry did this video. Learn something new every day.

Yes, great video! just got a chance to watch it.

Lyn Garner, Chuck, Hence, Scooter, and so on.

I remember going to see Garner and Bowen play at CNU later.

Great Memories -

The Mud Ice Bowl v Gretna (State Semis) we were on the Gretna side at the goal line when Essex scored. Crazy not to mention the insane weather.

I still remember seeing Coach Jones, players, and his family so happy and celebrating at Salem.

I think that was the year a bunch of the coaches (not the Football ones ha) and friends went to get a pregame meal at Hooters (only for the hot wings, of course).

Some crazy waitress went nuts when she found out we were from Tappahannock. Do y'all know Chris Brown? We were like yep...

We gave her a number of one of the coaches (unbeknownst to him) on a napkin... call this number, baby....dang, that was funny.

Good times. Good victories.

@uvacavs1 Im still thawing our from that Gretna game. Lol. First game I’ve ever been at where they let everyone go to their cars to warm up during halftime. Lol. The year before (2008) when Essex went to Gretna, Chris Brown showed up to the game to watch his cousins and friends play. Once the word got out that he was there and Rihanna was there with him, all the Gretna youngsters flooded Essex side. Lol
