Thomas Dale defeated Huguenot 65-61 in the 3rd game of the Highland Springs Winter Showcase. Delwan Waller scored 17 points and grabbed 8 rebounds to win MVP honors.
The Knights never trailed after taking a 14-12 lead at the end of the 1st quarter. They opened the 2nd quarter on a 9-2 run highlighted by a 3-pointer by Myles Tyler for a 23-14 lead. Thomas Dale led 30-20 at halftime.
Cameron Shaw converted a 3-point play to extend the Knights lead to 40-26 in the 3rd quarter. They led 62-47 in the 4th quarter before Huguenot started their comeback.
Kaemon Smith started an 8-0 run the run with a jumper with 2:35 left in the game and the Falcons trailed 62-55 with a minute to go. Smith made it interesting with a 3-pointer with 18 seconds left. He finished as the games high scorer with 18 points.
Waller made 1 of 2 for the final points. He finished 7 of 9 from the field including 2 of 2 from behind the 3-point line.
LeRon Pegram scored 11 points and Ethan Medley added 10 for Thomas Dale. Huguenot got 15 points from Trevion Brown and 12 points from Mills Thompson.
