Game Recap Top Seed Walsingham Advances

Walsingham Academy won the TCIS regular season championship and they will try to sweep the conference tournament too after earning the #1 seed. The Trojans took the first step towards winning the TCIS tournament title with a 67-46 win over Steward School. Sophomore Marcus Banks scored 29 points and junior Jaylin Stewart added 15 for the Trojans who never trailed.

Walsingham Academy led by 11 points at halftime and increased the margin to 20 thanks to 14 third quarter points from Banks who outscored the entire Stewart 3rd quarter output 14 to 9. The Spartans refuse to come out of their zone and Banks made them pay with four straight 3-pointers in the 3rd quarter. He also had four rebounds and two assists.


Stewart, who was on pace for a triple-double, added eight rebounds and six assists to his 15 points. Sam Jones was all over the court and he stuff the stat book with 8 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, 5 steals, a block and two treys.

Stewart School received 11 points each from freshman Efton Reid and sophomore Jonathan Kebede who drained three treys. The Spartans have a very young team starting two juniors, two freshman, and a sophomore. They also have a very good looking 8th-grader named Curtis Blair who had two blocks.
