...scouting William Monroe's Samantha Brunelle. One of the parents in the crowd said it is common to have these guys in attendance. Geno Auriemma himself was there. She is only a sophomore, well over 6', can shoot from anywhere and handles the rock like a pro.

Are there equivalent private school programs for girls as there are for boys? If so, I can't imagine that she will stay in Greene.

If those big time schools are already looking at her at Monroe, why would she leave and go to a private school? She doesnt have too, Proves a good point no matter where you are! If you are that good they will find you!

Girl from Monacan is the top rated girls player in the country and already signed with UConn. Never went to a private school. I'm of the opinion that if you are talented then schools are going to find you no matter where you are.

The benefit of transferring is in the competition level. I cannot believe that she is being challenged on a nightly basis playing in the Bull Run. She is 6-12" taller than most everybody she plays against in this district. But if those college coaches don't care...

I do recall a few years ago a male player from the Fredericksburg area (Courtland maybe) who was being recruited by Duke. He transferred for his senior year to a private, supposedly at the "urging" of the Duke staff. He played for Coach K for 4 years with varying success. Maybe the girls game is different and not playing top talent routinely doesn't matter.

Oh yeah, she plays for the Boo Williams National Team so he wasn't "found" in Stanardsville. Maybe playing with that organization in the off season is enough competition? I was told tonight that she also played on the USA National Team this past summer.

All this being said, I like the idea of staying at your public school but can see why some transfer.
