Day 2 of the 7th Annual VirginiaPreps.com Classic Presented by Cox Sports & HRSN was on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Green Run High School in Virginia Beach. An exciting day of Hoops saw four of the six games decided by single-digits.

We'll have more coverage from Rod Johnson, Will Garlick, Matthew Hatfield and Photo links. For now, see here's a quick overview of what happened...

Cape Henry 69, L.C. Bird 54: The Dolphins moved to 12-1 overall in a matchup between nationally-ranked programs. Taking home MVP honors was Virginia Tech signee Chris Clarke, who only scored six points, but grabbed 16 rebounds (14 on the defensive end) to go with seven assists while playing all 32 minutes. Iziah James scored 21 points, going a perfect 7-for-7 at the foul line, and Rice signee Marcus Evans added 18 points and six rebounds. Bird was led by Charles Falden's 25 points on 10-of-17shooting and star Kenny Williams finished with only five points, scoring his only field goal in the fourth quarter. Cape Henry closed the first quarter on a 16-1 run to break a 10-all tie and stayed in control throughout.

Colonial Forge 64, Norcom 43: Out-rebounding the Greyhounds 56-29, the defending 6A State Champs rolled past the reigning 4A State Champs, turning a close four-game at half-time into a rout. Senior guard T.J. Flood put in an MVP effort with 19 points, four rebounds and six assists. He got plenty of help in the form of Winston Burgess, James Shellington, Isiah Williams and 6A State Player of the Year Marco Haskins. Burgess had 11 of his 14 points in the third quarter, including three powerful slams. Shellington, Williams and Haskins collected 11 rebounds apiece. Norcom, which was led by K.J. Davis' 14 points, shot just 2-of-33 from the field in the second half.

Hampton 48, Potomac 47: In a back-and-forth battle that saw eight lead changes, three ties and neither team up more than eight points, the Hampton Crabbers outlasted the Potomac Panthers. Sophomore point guard Mastadi Pitt had 12 points, five rebounds and five assists, scoring the go-ahead basket and game-winning bucket in the final minute of play. He was helped by MVP Jalen Ray (18Pts. 6-12FG) and fellow sophomore Marquis Godwin, who scored all 12 of his points in the first half. Potomac put two players in double-figures with senior guard Keijon Honore's 14 points and Josh Chukwu's 12 points. Chukwu also grabbed 10 rebounds in defeat for the Panthers, who were 14-of-17 at the foul line.

Green Run 65, Osbourn 56: Snapping Osbourn's 10-game winning streak and improving to 10-2 overall, the host Stallions kept a lead between 2-10 points much of the contest in holding off the Eagles. Green Run outscored Osbourn 40-18 in the paint as the trio of junior Sterling Carrington (18Pts.), sophomore DeShaun Wade (18Pts.) and sophomore Damon Showers (11Pts.) reached double-digits. Carrington, the game's MVP, added 12 rebounds and three steals while going 6-of-12 from the floor and 6-for-8 at the charity stripe. Wade, who was 7-of-13 from the field, handed out four assists, and Showers supplied solid defense on Osbourn star Justin Vargo (16Pts.). Robert Aviles added 15 points for an Osbourn bunch that shot only 30.3% in the second half.

Norfolk Collegiate 69. C.D. Hylton 65: In one of the most exciting games of the day, Norfolk Collegiate saw a 16-point lead evaporate and C.D. Hylton take a 52-50 lead into the fourth period. Norfolk Collegiate recovered with a balanced attack getting the job done. That included MVP Adam Grant (15Pts. 6Reb. 4Ast. 4Stl.), Bash Townes (19Pts. 7-10FG), Mark Madison (14Pts.) and Kyonze Chavis (12Pts. 6Reb. 4Ast.). Hylton was able to get back into the game on the hot shooting of one Jerry Carter, who scored a game-high 26 points on 9-of-16 from the floor, 4-for-11 from long distance. Carter scored 22 points after half-time. The Bulldogs were 10-of-31 from three-point territory, but got outscored 40-16 in the painted area.

Stonewall Jackson 57, Western Branch 49: Junior point guard Keaton Simmons earned MVP honors with 18 points, six rebounds and three steals in toppling the Western Branch Bruins. Stonewall Jackson saw a 14-point lead in the second quarter dissolve as the Bruins rallied to go in front briefly in the third quarter. Senior guard Aaron Johnson was the catalyst for Western Branch, finishing with 23 points and four assists. Tied at 41-all going into the fourth quarter, the Raiders won the final period 16-8. To go with Simmons' offensive punch, Zach Hinton chipped in 14 points, five boards and four assists. The Raiders overcame 22 turnovers by outscoring Western Branch 40-26 in the paint and scoring 19 fast-break points.
