Thanks buddy, I was looking forward to your opinion. You have given me encouragement. I have always liked Coach Rhodes as a person, but like you said, his brand of basketball was not what we wanted to see at VCU. And something else. When that many players up and leave, a red flag goes up. It sure makes you wonder!!Awesome hire DP. Coach Odom is going to make the Rams a threat to win some real games in March. Rhoades was a solid recruiter but VCU’s offensive schemes left a lot to be desired. Way too much one on one and run and gun, Street ball crap. Lost the whole team today to the portal which I’m totally fine with. VCU was probably the worst looking team in the NCAA tournament this year. Very painful to watch considering the rich history of players they’ve had in the past 20 years. Odom will bring lots of shooters and excellent guard play. Remember, first coach to coach a 16th seed over a 1 seed, which happened to be our friends from Charlottesville. I’m very excited. Rams haven’t played an exciting brand of basketball in 8 years.
Rhoades did and they were a top 20 defensive team consistently. The offense was just atrocious. Thing is, there aren’t many Tre Graham’s, Brad Burgess’s, Briante Weber’s and Mo Allie Cox out here anymore who can play on both ends. That brand of basketball is long gone. I’m hope they rebrand and be more offensive minded. If another coach tried to re-establish the Havoc press system they were running would that work?
