VHSL Close To Bringing NIL To Virginia

Horrible decision. This signs the death warrant for high school sports as we now know it. This will lead to so many issues that coaches will walk away from the game in droves.
I find it almost beyond belief that the Executive Committee voted unanimously for this proposal. It requires a second vote at the upcoming EC meeting in May to become official. But, if one or more of the Class representatives vote no, then it must be approved by the entire membership of the VHSL to become affective. This would happen in Oct 2023.
One excuse to accept this proposal is that 25 other state HSL’s have already adopted a policy that allows NIL. So what? That means 25 have not.
Talk to your Principal and AD and express your opinion. Let’s wait for a few years and see what problems occur in other states and THEN decide if it’s right for our high school student athletes.
