They have an extra entry for Goochland for the Fork Union game. It also looks like they gave them 18 points (2A) for beating FUMA.

The official VHSL score release has Alleghany, but other sites have Rustburg.

I think Goochland number really should be 20.5 because of the FUMA game.... If FUMA game is to count, they wouldn't be rated as 2A and more points would be awarded to Goochland.....

I checked the VHSL Master Schedule and they definitely have Fork Union classified as a 2A private school along with St. Christopher's and Benedictine. But you're right if it does not count, they should have 20.5.

As for Alleghany/Rustburg, I think they flipped the score. Everything I've seen shows Rustburg winning by that score (27-7). It does look like they have it correct in the ratings.

The ratings are incorrect, Park View (South Hill) should be 3rd in 3A East after beating Franklin 44-14 on Monday night. PV is 4-0 but ratings have them 3-1 and Franklin 4-0. This is gonna change ratings for 1A also.

If the FUMA game were to count towards ratings, they would have to use several escalators which would move the ratings up several classifications. Time will tell but I would expect the FUMA game not to be calculated into ratings.....

Apparently, you get 2 bonus points per classification for playing a smaller school whether they're in district or not. That's different from last year when you only got 1 point for out of district games.

I agree. FWIW, I pulled this from the VHSL handbook

"8-2-1 Formation of Private and Public School Divisions-VHSL will seek from the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association ("VISAA") an agreement to incorporate and include VISAA in VHSL as a private school division, which will have its own autonomous rules, governance, finances, and management, but will have VHSL member status (hereafter, the "private school division"). The private school division will exist alongside the current VHSL membership (hereafter, the "public school division"). In interscholastic sports, the private school division may have regular season and post-season playoff schedules that are separate from those of the public school division, but shall be treated equally for competitive purposes as provided in the VHSL Football Rating Scale."​

Based on the private school designation list, you would think FUMA would not be included. Maybe someone much smarter than me can explain it.

Here are the updated links posted on the VHSL website today. There are some changes to both 2 A East and West. Park View is #2 in 3A East based on the updates now.

They did make a change to the bonus points for this year. You get 2 points per classification for winning regardless now.

This week, I got us beating gretna like William Campbell, but I do fear Dan River although I got us beating them by a TD or 2. Havent made that ride to D.R. in awhile. I forgot what their field looks like.

I think you should only get bonus points for playing a smaller school is if they're in your district and you're forced to play them.

It is an incentive for the larger schools to play the smaller schools. It is always beneficial to play up, but what benefit is there to play down? None! Except for the classification points. Wins mean nothing without the power points to back them up.
