2013 VHSL Radford Spring Jubilee Semifinals Postponed


Charlottesville, VA ? Due to the predicted weather forecast, VHSL semifinal events for baseball, soccer and softball scheduled for Friday, June 7, at the Radford Spring Jubilee have been postponed until Saturday, June 8. All finals will now be held on Sunday, June 9.

Boys and girls tennis semifinals will go on as scheduled for Friday, June 7.

All semifinal sites and times, originally scheduled for Friday, will be in effect for Saturday. If there should be any further changes in that schedule; the VHSL will notify media and schools immediately.

Schedule updates will be posted on the VHSL website home page under News & Announcements

I wish VHSL would move state title games out of Radford and put them in Lynchburg.

Apparently, now as of an hour ago, the A, D-2 games have been moved to 1 p.m. - Wilson vs, Grayson and 4 pm Glenvar vs. Nandua...AA games at Pulaski also pushed back to 1 & 4. -- what a mess!

VHSL would have hard time scheduling a goat roping, even if they had a good goat and a new rope.

So far, no. Radford U.'s groundskeeper is very picky about when teams get on that field. It appears that a last batch of heavy rain MIGHT bypass Roanoke-Radford area to the east. Light showers still in the area down there.

Note: Do not go by what's on the VHSL WEBSITE...Radford HS coach Freemen confirms that it's Wilson vs. Grayson Co. at 1:00 followed bt Glenvar vs. Nandua at 4:00 at Radford U. The diamond has new (1+ years old) stadium lighting and seating for about 500 or so right behind the backstop. There is some space for lawn chairs on the third base visitors side fence and on the slope near the tennis courts.

Some people will complain about anything. Western VA has received 2-8" of rain since Wednesday, and there is a pretty decent shot well into the morning. Besides, moving the game times back will only give field more time to dry out.

Moving games to Lynchburg as HR6 suggests I think is a horrible idea. It would make no difference in this case as Lynchburg has had days of rain as well. Would be an unfair trip to many far western schools. Winter Championships are in the Eastern part of the State -- keep Spring in the Western.
