I have been kinda quiet on this board this year because I saw something special in this Magna Vista team that I had never seen in any other Magna Vista team. We always have a good competitive team, but this year's team continued to stay hungry in games that seemed to be out of reach. Even in the G.W. Danville game (that 1 game that we lost), the will to keep fighting back in that game was unbelievable. And it wasn't just one or two guys on the team. They all stayed hungry throughout the season with one common goal and that was to win it all. I am extremely proud of the team (coaches, players, managers, trainers, cheerleaders, band, ball boys, water boys, statisticians, teachers, school administrators, the Magna Vista community, neighboring schools for their support, parents, sponsors, clock operator, spotter, and me - the voice of the Warriors). We all played a role in this year's success, but to be honest, all credit should go to the young men who committed themselves all year long through the hard work and occasional adversity. As you see, I'm a very proud WARRIOR. Hopefully, the success will continue for years to come, but for now let's enjoy this one. WARRIOR NATION!!!!

Well said. Back in Aug my pre-season prediction of this team was probably 7-3 and win a couple of playoff rounds. I never would have thought after losing 20+ seniors they could have won a state title. This goes to show you hard work pays off. Bringing back 2 starters on defense they had every excuse to lay down, but they always stepped up in crunch time. As far as the offense, this is one of the most exciting teams I have ever watched in high school football. I had the privilege to attend 17 games this year counting the pulaski scrimmage, and benefit game, and I must say yesterday was icing on the cake. To win a state championship in football is a big accomplishment, the deeper you go the tougher it gets. MV playoff road was one of the toughest, knocking off the state champions and runner up champions, then beating a talented and disciplined Lafayette team. This will be memories these kids will never forget. Congratulations to MV coaches, players, fans, and our community.. Can't wait for that first home game when you announce on your feet for the 2014 3A state champions! lol. Sounds awesome.

Yes it does Ridge98. Still celebrating this one, but looking forward to next year.

I was very impressed with the huge turnout of the Magna Vista fans.

Very proud of this team, if you had to describe them in one word it would be HEART, they had heart congrats job well done!!!

I was glad to see MV bring home a state championship.

I loved seeing the charter buses going up 29 with police escort headed to Lynchburg. Brought back memories of the days when Gretna was on the buses headed to championship game.

Lancerborn, i couldn't agree with you more. Those young men from Ridgeway deserved this more than anything. My freshman year in high school (2008) MV was the laughing stock of the Piedmont District similar to Patrick County now but with waaaay more talent. They went 0-10 that year. The next year a man by the name of Harvey Taylor was quarterbacking the team and led them to the playoffs where they lost to UNDEFEATED Salem by 3 points. The next year they went 11-2 (lost to Franklin County and Christiansburg-playoffs) upsetting Salem in the playoffs (first ever Henry Co team to ever do that) and by my senior year they dismantled everyone before losing to the state runner up Christiansburg Blue Demons. This program has evolved tremendously in the past 5 years and IMO I think bigger things are in sight for Magna Vista.
